nice pub, good simple cheap food, good beers and a great range of single malts.
in the week it is very much a local pub for local people. locals dont make you feel unwelcome as such, but they do look at you a lot.
some nice girls behind the bar, polite and friendly

An impressive and popular village local. The bar staff were very friendly and food was excellent. The beer range was not very extensive as the guest had just run out. Still it was a very good pub a well worth popping into.

We'd booked a christmas meal somewhere else for a group of 15. On the morning of the meal, they rang us to say that their ovens had packed up and we'd have to cancel. After desperately ringing around numerous other places to no avail it was suggested to try some local pubs. This was the only one who'd take us in at such short notice - and what a piece of luck! I'm sure that there was only one person in the kitchen, a really nice old lady who worked miracles for us. The excellent food came out promptly and there were no probs at all. We all had a really great time and of course some great beers too!

What can I say, you walk in the front door and cut your way through the smoke to discover a bunch of locals chinwagging. The beer is good, plus a range of fruit wines, and you must try the cider warmed up - boy that hits the spot. Desperate Dan Cow Pie is Luurvely. Formerly a printing press with lots of very funny material posted around the walls. Yes it can be smoky but boy it's worth it!!

A proper pub in this old village. This is a real locals hang out but visitors are always welcome. It has good English pub food as well as the usual international menu. A good selection of favourite and guest beers. Small cosy and friendly.
