Stopped here for a meal and a drink (or three!) in their pub garden. The surroundings were picturesque. The kids played nicely in the garden. The food we had was filling and delicious, and the guest bitters went down well, and my wife enjoyed their wine. Really cannot fault anything, even if I tried to think of something. Staff were friendly also and happy to stop and chat with us.

Beautiful village green, pity about the pub(hotel).the bar area is shabby and in need of renovating.some of the furniture is held together with electrical tape.the thwaites beer was ok,but the wine was not as good.

What fantastic service and food!
We stayed here for my daughter's second birthday. We booked four rooms and ate here on a Saturday night.
From the moment I called to book the rooms to the moment we left, we could not fault the service.
The rooms were clean and airy. The food was fantastic; Great variety, quality and a kids menu.
All of the staff were friendly and accommodating, and fine about our four lively children!
We would definately reccomed and return to The Castle when visiting Hythe or surrounding areas.

Not the smartest pub and could do with a makeover, but this is compensated by the warm and friendly atmosphere. Food is surprisingly good and seems to be genuinely home cooked. Service varies a bit by staff member, but the landlord is very friendly.

Went back a bit over a year since my last visit, and I have to say that the experience was somewhat better than previously. It may still be a bit tatty, but the place was heaving on a Sunday lunctime and had an excellent village pub feel - it really did seem like the centre of the community. The Harveys was on good form too.

nice food, nice atmospere, welcoming. will be recommending to all i know seeing as it is the closet, and certainly by far the nicest, hotel to the channel tunnel. i did it in 8 minutes! ignore all bad reviews, complete rubbish. i find people who complain about the warm friendly atmospheres of stereotypical english inn, would be far happier in the inpersonal environment of a holiday inn.

this pub is simply delightful, landlord david was welcoming and warm, his family were lovely. ate in the restaurant that evening and had lunch in the garden the next day and the food served was the best homemade dishes i'd ever had. the hotel rooms were comfortable, yes they need a lick of paint here and there however with all the good points this one is very minor. upon reading all bad comments from some people all i can say i assure you if it was not great then, then its improved a great deal. well presented garden, pub, restaurant, hotel and friendly amusing staff! thanks david and co. will be seeing you next summer!

This place has seen better days - very tatty. Having said that, it had a nice log fire and a reasonable pint of Harveys.

I have just spent a week at the Castle Inn on holiday with my husband. We found the pub to be warm, welcoming and the accommodation very good. The staff, the landlord 'Dave' and the locals extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was so good we didn't need to go out to eat. Well done all and thankyou.

We visited this pub in the evening for dinner. The dining room was cramped and really shabby and it badly needs decorating. The food was awful, the table wasn't clean and the general air was one which reminded me of the bad old days of English dining.

The beer might be good, the food isn't.

Stood at the bar and was ignored for 10 minutes. Two groups of locals walked in and got served before me !!
Got a pint of Youngs that tasted like vinegar. After 5 more minutes got it replaced with a London Pride that was almost as bad... Felt completely unwelcomed and will not be returning.

Great village 'local' excellent range of real ales from 'Youngs' to Fullers and my favourite 'Old speckled hen' Great range of home made pub food, including some terrific pies and curries. Very good steak night on wednesday nights and a very popular Sunday 'carvary'. Quiz night is on sunday with David the landlord keeping every one amused. a great 'find'.
