Efficient barmaid, 3 ales on, I had Robinsons 'Trooper' [again] still a decent pint. The seating in the pub is getting worn & grubby, needs upgrading.

Traditional pub, not got a smoking area; friendly & helpful barmaid. I had Robinsons ''Trooper'' [decent pint].

Whenever I go for a pint in Shrewsbury I always start here. Good selection of ales, great jukebox and friendly staff. What more could you ask for?

Great place. Only two real ales on, but the IPA was in good form. Lively and interesting.

This pub has hardly changed in the 25 years i have been drinking in it , only the murals and lifesize figures are recent additions , apart from that its always been the same a bikers and crustys pub , but everyone is made welcome . Only GK IPA and Hen on , but the beer is only a small part of the appeal of this pub , even the wife likes it in here . Believe it or not the Salopian Bar (then the Proud Salopian) used to be like this !!

Bizarre place, a bit like going on a ghost train ride at the fun fair when you were 6. It seems to cater for everything from heavy metal, to Middle Earth fans. Has graffiti art on the walls sporting the names of bands and life-size statues of Orcy looking things (i am not a Middle Earth specialist and i am not sure how life-size an Orcy thing would be) and Wizards.
The interior was pretty dark, so i cant say much about what it was like, but it was a mixed clientele and service seemed happy enough.
No MILD and Green King and Speckky Hen on tap, apart from the usual stuff, so had a drop of cider to refresh.

Very interesting pub. Has a full size statue of a wizard in the window and a larger than life green faced Slayer type character statue inside. Has weird gargoyles and skeletal arms etc on the bar. All the back room has murals on the wall celebrating the likes of Metallica. Has 3 handpumps, but only GK IPA and Old Speckled Hen were on. The IPA was fine. A real mix of characters as you would expect, but all very peaceful really (in a raucous sort of way). I like rock music myself (I was a bit of a long hair in the 70's)but most of the stuff played in here was a bit heavy even for me, pretty much Thrash Metal, but it may not always be like this. I like it ! Even if you don't like the music it's worth a visit for the curiosity value.

Excellent, every town should have a place like this to go to after 11pm. Good selection of ales, good music and friendly, 'alternative' clientele combine to create an excellent atmosphere in a cosy pub which is in a picturesque spot by one of Shrewsbury's many churches. Just a shame you can't drink outside, as it does get stuffy, but that's probably a sensible precaution to be honest. Plastic glasses maybe? Shrewsbury has many great pubs and you could do worse than to ensure you add this place onto the end of your crawl, as it is still in its prime well past midnight.

Excellent pub, very friendly and free from chavs! My first visit last night and I'll definitely be going there again. As below, you need to like the music and decor, but this only helps to keep the wrong kind of people away in my opinion!

If you don't like loud rock music don't go here. If you do, do.
I like it.

this is a rock pub with a vast choice of music on the best jukebox in the town. an ecclectic choice of customers ranging from students and mini goths to bikers covered in patches and tattoos. you never get any hassle, just hours of fun. great beer. no food!!
