Looking at the photo you’d think the pub was in the middle of nowhere but it’s right in the middle of the town.Very small with an open fire making winter evenings cosy.Always a warm welcome and a fine selection of ales on the hand pumps. Not many pubs left in Yeovil now but this one is making a good effort not to become another boarded up and forgotten local

A proper pub without any pretentions - the ale (Butcombe) was quite drinkable too. One of the few places to have a decent pint in the town.

We always struggle to find decent real ale pubs in Yeovil when we come for the football, but this one was excellent. Two decent ales (including Bass), very friendly crowd, I don't think we'll bother looking elsewhere on future trips....

this must undoubtedly be the best local pub in Yeovil, Great real ales, good atmosphere, and the regulars don,t mind conversing with visitors, so it is a great place to pop in for a quick pint ,or to spend a very pleasant drinking session,or to listen to great live music. not at all a blokesey pub,my missus loves going there.Hope to see lots of you in here soon THE BEERSWIGGER

Now has 5 handpumps, and will be serving Dorset Brewery beers and interesting guest beers. Regular music events and organised trips (brewery visits, dog racing etc.). Fast becoming the best pub in Yeovil - the glory days are returning!
|
After a short period of closure, this pub is under new management (again). Seem pleasant people though, with experience in the trade. Only Doom Bar on on my visit, but hopefully a better range of beers will follow. One to watch!

Called in when on a pub crawl...friendly, good fun pub. Hay bales and a wurzells tribute band. Most enjoyable

Carol is back behind the bar.......YEEEEEE HAAAAA!!!! Go on girl!!!!

are u serious? she didnt wash her hands after a smoke? then pulled a pint? i wish thats all i had to worry about. nice pub, looks well and friendly landlords and staff
|
Not a bad pint. Coffee was grim though, herself says. Black mark for the barmaid, who went out for a smoke in the back doorway, then returned and served beers, but no thought of washing her hands. Not for me, I'm afraid.

Agree with previous comment. Nice to see someone with an interest running this pub - it's been neglected too long. Bass (which I tried - very well kept) and 6X on my visit. This pub used to do a roaring trade a few years ago - hopefully those days will return. A nice traditional pub - not many of them left these days.

New manager running the place. No food at the moment, although by the sounds of things this will change soon. Other than that, still the same old Butchers Arms serving Bass - I'm happy to say (even though I drink Foster's!!)
Good pub, recommended.

One of the few pubs in Yeovil with decent beer - but undoubtedly a 'blokes' pub.

If this pub had some real ales, more than Bass, it would be a great little stop.
|
Bass, UGH!!
|
beers on tap are nothing to write home about... bass for one!

One of the few traditional pubs in Yeovil that's worth going to.
Just the place for a quiet pint.

Very popular, but small, pub. Friday nights are hectic. The Butchers looks like an old man's pub but it's full of college students and twenty-somethings (then again, my 40+yr old uncle drinks here).
It can be difficult to get served, but well worth the wait. Xmas Eve is carnage. Staff are usually pretty friendly. You have to go there is you're in town.
