Is there new owners then

Where did Colin go ?
Dribbler - 18 Jan 2011 16:32
Not bad gaff, only problem is there's no gatorade or pepsi. Was in here last week having a quiet one when old boon commando rolled in smashing his face into the bar: blood alcohol must have been 86% he was crying blood when he finally stood up. He looked around the pub then clocked me and screamed WONGA.... AHHHHHHHH!
He threw up and drop his guts at the same time. I dragged him out of there and threw him into a cab. After two jars of maxwell house, he was sober enough to tell me that he was on a bender because of the new envirophone advert... And that he was going to drag me along on his evening quest to the womens institue or the rotary club so he can smash the grannies out of some piece.!!!! That's when I jumped out of the cab... As it pulled away I saw him take a bite out of the driver. Bumped into pat rice, Ian wright and bergkamp on way home all went back to the grotto for lock in, Straight up.

Is Colin still running the Groto?
Dribbler - 30 Jul 2010 15:22
Under the previous owners the Thai food was done by a Thai lady calley Toy. Does anone know if she now works elsewhere? She was the only reason to go to The Grotto!!!
pmarkc - 20 Jul 2010 12:40
I like this place - it is pretty small mind you.
Passing_By - 11 Jul 2010 18:25
beer selection not bad. You need to be a sports fan
to really enjoy this pub, we may return or not
magnumpi - 2 Jun 2010 09:31
Okay place, have Asahi on draught. Show a lot of football on a couple of screens either side of the bar in the middle.
nicktrow - 16 May 2010 13:26
Is Colin still running this pub ?

How is it doing?
Dribbler - 16 Mar 2010 13:33
You could not be further from the truth Charlesfox ! The Grotto is not to everyone's liking but then it's up to people to decide whether to go there or not - 'ghastly' is a bit over the top I believe but then that is your opinion and you're entitled to it.
nogs - 24 Feb 2010 14:12
This is a ghastly little place. What makes me think that nogs is the landlord ................
charlesfox - 25 Jan 2010 15:04
Good to see the Christmas decorations still up on the 15 Jan......
Joe_Johnson - 22 Jan 2010 13:30
Once again Colin & Jan are helping us beat the credit crunch with another period of 1 off a pint between 12-6. They may only have 2 real ale pumps but both ales are always in good condition (a lesson some other places can learn - less can actually mean more !). The latest - Ruddy Darter - keeps up the standard & at 2.10/pint before 6pm definitely good value.
nogs - 12 Jan 2010 13:20
Unfortunately the happy 2-hours has now finished but the beer is still good. Apparently a beer from the Addlestone brewery is coming in - nice to see them supporting local breweries.
nogs - 19 Oct 2009 15:42
Give it a go ! - its's slightly off-the-wall but fun all the same ! Beer is a 1 of between 4-6pm at the moment so its cheaper than the Percy Lambert (but who wants to go there anyway !) - Food alwas looks good and gets good reviews.

The magic of the Grotto, keeps on changing its appearance. Really I don't think they should both making it half restaurant. This pub is small enough already is there really any point in doing this? Otherwise I really like this place.
BestBeerBoffin - 1 Jun 2009 15:47
Celebrate Real Beer!!

On the 22nd - 25th May, there will be a real ale festival held within the Grotto Inn.

9 Real Ales, of which you are able to try, also a special deal allowing 5 halves for 5!!!

Come on down and try these wonderful, great tasting ales, whilst enjoying the friendly atmosphere that The Grotto Inn has to offer.

Well, the refurb (slash) has been done, and the pub is brighter inside. The left bar has been turned 90 degrees, and now faces the fireplace.
Greene King is the new brewery supplier of choice. Lager is Fosters, Amstel 4.1% or Peroni on draught. As I only like premium lager, and don't care for Peroni much, that leaves me a bit stuffed. Also at 4.00 a pint, the Peroni is well over priced!
The pub has two Sky boxes - one from Sky Italia, so shows 3pm Saturday games (until they get caught). Although the new governor says he wants it to be a rugby orientated pub, he is Chelsea mad, and from what I observed, quite the stereotype football fan.
Sorry, but too football, too lary and no reasonably priced premium lager.
Must try harder.

Now re-opened after a bit of a re-furb - new bar and much lighter inside. Unfortunately, the TV is still 'king' in the place and is never off even when the stereo is on at the same so unnecessarily noisy. No food as yet so can't comment. The obvious is also happening where the 'undesirables' are coming back to try it out !
nogs - 16 Mar 2009 12:45
so when is it shutting then?
threeravensmoor - 21 Jan 2009 15:45
This has become yet another Pub/Restaurant type place! The pub area itself is a little on the small side, but somehow it creates a nice, small yet warm and friendly atmosphere. Entertaining SjW gig.
aleman - 23 Nov 2007 00:58
A dirty little dump of a pub not worth crossing the road for
anonymous - 31 Aug 2007 16:31
Didn't fancy this place much, but I made the mistake of being there on St Paddys day with all the braying eejits wearing Guiness hats and being 'Oirish' which may have tainted my view somewhat.

However, this wasn't helped by my pint of Ordinary being vile (so far off there must be a lack of basic checking by staff in the morning), but it did get exchanged for an acceptable Pride.

Next time I'm Weybridge I'll pop in again hopefully minus the plastic paddy brigade to get a better picture.
Quinno - 31 Mar 2007 17:12
Very acceptable. Lively, friendly, somewhat smoky bar. London Pride and Bombadier on tap. Sky Sports One matches on the TVs, and handy list to show what matches are coming up. Thai food served in a separate area, tables bookable.
Trev - 5 Jan 2007 17:03
In the last couple of weeks the pub seems to be getting better.

anonymous - 28 Nov 2006 17:56
Went to the Grotto to see another gigging, and it was great. It's always good to check out other acts and even get to chat with them and see whats the happs, around the music scene.
scratch - 19 Oct 2006 12:46
We gigged here on thursday the 31st, and what a great night. The crowd were excellent and a good night was had by all.
scratch - 1 Sep 2006 09:50
Went here on sunday night from a friends recommendation . . . a nice friendly pub. good cold beer and great entertainment. Will be back.
anonymous - 8 Jul 2006 18:36
Your entittled to your opinion . . . d'head, leave your e mail instead of being a whimp and leaving an anonymous feedback. There weren't many people there at the last gig, and we had 2 encores . . stupid . . so whats the hassle, and if we or I wasn't what you liked then have the balls to approach me and air your views.
Better still DON'T fxxx'n come to the grotto.
scratch - 4 Jul 2006 17:04
Always pleased to receive feedback, even if it is negative. Cringe-worthy rubbish is it? Oh dear, perhaps we need to think about revising our extremely successful repertoire...
ladyjaneg - 4 Jul 2006 16:04
Ok pub normally with good beer.

But the music is diabolical. I had the misfortune of seeing Scratch. Cringe worthy rubbish. Nails scratching a blackboard, more like.
anonymous - 19 Jun 2006 11:06
New owners & management since December 2004 have really turned the place around. Thai food is excellent and the beer is kept well. Staff are friendly enough - customers are welcoming and not at all stand-offish. Live music on Thursday and Sunday nights always worth a look. One of the cheaper places in Weybridge to drink.
terryd - 5 Oct 2005 13:18
Interesting alternatives to beer are sold here

Will2 - 18 Sep 2005 19:51
I think The Grotto in Weybridge
is lovely and friendly pub and is worth a vist
Andy - 13 Nov 2004 21:21
Used to be scary, but new landlords seem to be turning things round. Small with not much charm.
Gordon - 17 Aug 2004 11:46
Quite friendly under new regime. Very pricy beer. Thai food supposedly v'good. Getting better.
Chris - 26 Dec 2003 06:04
Since the dross was throw out, this has become a friendly local pub. The manageress isn't much cop, but the staff and owner (Charles) are great, and offer a welcoming service.
Rugby is on a level footing here with football, and it can be a good place to watch an international on Sky Sports.

Worth a visit.
James - 18 Aug 2003 09:51
Great Thai food and the worlds friendliest landlord - he even picked my missus up when she fell off her chair - now that is service
