A traditional pub with 6 casks.

A friend has moved into a flat virtually yards away! Visited here and it's exactly as described very traditional bar and welcoming locals. I look forward to future visits.

After football at Starks Park I made my way to the Harbour Arms.

My 2nd pub & very different to the many I passed in the High St. 2 rooms as you enter with majority of the punters in the bar I entered on the right.

6 ales on of which 2 were from Scotland. A Varied selection of ales but all styles being the same...hoppy. I opted for pints of Allgates Gidlow Wash @ 4.1% & Kelburn Goldihops @ 3.8%. Both new ales for me with Allgates of Wigan being a new brewery for me as well.

Above the bar on the chalk board is a list marked as 'Ales coming on shortly' these numbered in excess of 15 which is a great effort.

A decent number of punters in with the average age being late 40s.

Music playing from the jukebox at a nice level and not to loud to drown the chatter out.

A thoroughly decent pub and worthy of it's inclusion in the GBG.

That should read 'best real ale pub'

Best real pub for miles. Always has six beers on tap from small breweries around the UK. Chatty punters and compact interior create a friendly, communal atmosphere. Run by celebrity couple Larry Sanders and Miss Diane from Crossroads.

Nice old fashioned pub with 6 ales on yesterday. I had two pints of the Arran Brewery Dug- a good 5.5% IPA. As previous reviewers have said it is a bit of a walk from the town centre but well worth it. I had a bracing walk along the seafront to San Starko, but the chuffing game was off!

Just as you think you have walked far enough and about to give up, you come across The Harbour Bar (it's a good trek from the station) and the walk is well worth it although sadly they were not brewing on my visit so that was very disappointing. Apparently the brewer left and they are "having a bash" themselves so here's hoping for next time. Any way pleasant two bar pub with friendly staff and locals and always something to read from their "beer library". I had a pint of Srathaven Brewery Clydesdale IPA which was superb and they had 4 beers available altogther. This must be the best ppub in town?
Well worth finding and let's hope they get their brewery up and running again very sooon.

This pub looks like a right dive from the outside. But they always say you should never judge a book by its cover, and so it proved with this little gem that was our favourite pub out of 26 we visited in Scotland this weekend. The welcome was warm and the beer selection was good. My initial selection Fyne Avalanche came to the end of the barrel before I could sample it. Instead I plumped for Brew Dog Trashy Blonde. In addition, there was also Prospect Silver Tally, Brew Company Hop Monster, Salopian Golden Thread & Darkstar Hophead. The Fyne brewery is located on site. So it was a little disappointing that I was unable to try any of their beers, when just 9 days earlier I saw three on in one pub! There are two rooms. We sat in the main bar with its red walls. I don't believe there was anybody else in the other room. Secondhand books are available to buy for a small fee to charity. A real unspoilt local. If you get beyond the front door, you're guaranteed a good experience.

Excellent. 4 ales on when I went in on Weds lunchtime. The Magnum IPA brewed on the premises is the one I plumped for. Landlady ran wee bit off pipes before serving and advised that if beer not ok to let her know as it had been on a week - the beer was fine - couldn't understand why it had been on a week and not drunk - it was excellent and only 2.30 as compared to the more far flung English ales which came in at 2.65-2.75 depending on ABV. Pubs like this are a rarity outside big cities in Scotland.

Great wee boozer. If you like real ale then this is the pub for you in Kirkcaldy(Fyffe Ales are brewed on the property).Good mix of talkative drinkers in this warm and welcoming pub.

Very impressed with the welcome and the range of ales on offer. The little off sales bar and the fittings in the public bar are further reasons to visit

A 'must-visit' pub if you're in the area. Two bars - a 'jug bar' and a lounge bar.

A great range of beers - four or five on offer when we were there, with one changing during our stop.

As you'd expect, it was quieter and more sedate in the lounge bar, with the jug bar looking lively. Don't let the outside appearance put you off, as you'll get a warm welcome inside.

Unpretentious exterior hides gem of a pub.
Affable owners run a fine micro-brewery, have garnered quite an array of CAMRA awards etc. Always offer at least one of their own very quaffable ales beside several well-chosen guesters. Ambiance is quiet chat among dedicated local followers - who know this off-the-beaten-track bar offers the best range of proper beers available locally, and all in a completely ruffian-free environment. Very sensible prices, hot pies available til late into the evening, excellent whisky collection. Fabulous.

Popular with local CAMRA members.
Good selection of ales and its own micro brewery making FYFE ales.
