Large open-plan town centre bar that reminded me of an All Bar One. The rear of the bar featured many alcoves with different types of spirits and wines. 2 handpulls were hidden behind an advertisement and obviously not promoted. Only one appeared to be on - Young's Special. A large raised stage area at the rear indicates that live music is often played. The place was relatively quiet, compared with other Horsham pubs on our Saturday evening visit.
Shame they no longer have a local ale. This was a meeting place after work when I occasionaly visited a large insurance company in the town.
This place is akin to a meat market on Friday & Saturday nights. Attracts too many chavs with bad attitudes for my liking, but each to their own.
Probably quite nice to visit during the day for a quiet lunch, but the evening experiences have put me off.
Drinks are priced a little above average. No cask ales to speak of when I last visited, but the usual array of lagers and ciders to satisfy the aforementioned clientele. Good selection of wines though.

Getting very tired now decor wise and still smells like they have cleaned the bar etc with stale rags but gets VERY busy at weekends and staff are friendly enough. Only complaint is the Becks Vier served here is awful..........dont know why as rest of the beers are good.
Similar to The Crown, just refurbished less recently. Beer is better though; the Harveys is usually ok. Food not too bad but don't expect miracles. Service is usually friendly and quick. Pretty busy with the 20-30 town crowd on the weekends, not really my cup of tea.
not really a pub though is it...more like a wine ba for del boy without the funnty bit
If i'm honest this Bar is now well past it's sell by date. It is in a desperate need of refurbishment rather than taking customers money year after year, there are now nicer pubs in Horsham to go and enjoy your food experience, although nothing will compete with it's Friday and Saturday entertainment appeal. Spirit Group put your hand in your pocket..!

Does nickydbs86 work for Bar Vin ?
Brilliant pub! Great atmosphere in the evenings and always makes the night. Very friendly staff who can't do more for you - drinks are priced well and food is brilliant. Try and lunch there as much as possible! Anyone who says this bar is anything less than amazing - needs medical attention! N

This is a lovely pub to go to for 20's-30'syear olds to hang out only thing is waiting at the bar for a while and sometimes seating isn't vacant but get by.
Its not the same as it used to be, they used to really know how to through a party now its just a sausage fest.
Probably one of the better pubs in horsham but they are hipocrits when coming to show football! they dont show it or allow football tops yet they show major tournaments to get the money in! Better during the week than weekends
Used to live in Horsham but only went here a couple of times, its full of spivs & slappers
A bit of a meat market, but good for a hen night. Takes ages to get a drink and there was a massive queue for the loo's.
This is the only pub in Horsham i physically avoid, it would be a fantastic place were it not for the seemingly constant need to shoehorn people in so it is practically impossible to move to the bar.
its terrible you can't move for tw@ts shouting about how double-hard they are for downing there last 5 shots the drinks are cheap but god damn do you have to wait for it, ever time i am there i can't help thinking if i were anywhere else i could have had 10 drinks by now, the music is usualy so loud your drinks have been vibrated off the table before you have chance to sit down & thats if you managed to get there before 7 to get a seat terrible don't bother
you can slate Bar Vin all you like but how is it that people queue half way down east street just to get in . when they do themes and events they are wicked.Cyote ugly was amazing it cant be that bad if there are 300/400 people in there every fri and sat night. ...name me a busier pub in horsham.. there is never any trouble and it is good that it is over 20's a little bit more respectable.. think about it.

This place is a waste of space. You have to wait SO LONG to get served even when it's dead. The place can look full when there's 30 people in there owing to all the pillars and long tables and chairs and as soon as a group leaves it is what it is..empty and lacking in atmosphere. On weekends they let in anyone so long as they're tacky or mutton dessed as lamb. No taste required..good luck.

Absolutely awful place. Full of smoke and orange-faced chavs; wait ages for a pint of over-priced rubbish lager (although I did once spy a real ale on offer here a while back); and take in the (lack of) atmosphere. Bar Vin must surely be the reason why the residents of Horsham go to London or Brighton for a night out?
I am in agreement with the comment below. It WAS an ok'ish bar to go. But chavs a go go there and with pretty but dim barstaff and an absent manager (is he ever there?), it is now more on par with House of Doom or The Crown.

This was an ok bar to go, but its gone steadily downhill gathering more and more momentum in the last couple of years, now full of chavs basically, maybe on par with the Crown and the House of Doom!

Decided, with some degree of reservation, to purchase a pint of bitter inn this pub. it was disgusting. Perahps they don't sell enough of it or simply do not care to look after the product. Will continue to go to The Malt Shovel or The Lynd Cross as they serve very decent range of bitters of very good quality, all the time.

Trying to improve their image Ithink as have had 2 mini refurbs in last year alone, but failing. Manager never around, never get full measure of anything youy buy. cattle market quite true. Boring atmosphere most of the time.

Played here a few times. Lousy management who managed to have a fist fight with one of the bar staff at around 11.30pm. The place is run by kids for kids. Beer crap. All in all, a place to avoid. A cattle market at the weekend with no redeeming qualities!
Used to be a good place to go before the present manager arrived. The beer is rubbish most of the time and you will never get a full pint!!! Suppose you pays your money......... The early evening is quite nice for a chat however, once the DJ arrives or the band arrives that everyone enjoys only because they have had too much to drink, having a conversation is impossible - spoils the pub. Do not go there on a Friday or Saturday unless you either like being packed in like sheep being transported or want to wait hours for a drink.

Beer range is disappointing, but I guess they have to sell what sells. The decor makes this palce interesting. In general, pretty much like Edwards and places like that

I'd say this is more suitable for young people. Expect it gets lively in the evenings. Nice place, very spacious atmosphere. Their side portion of curly fries is rather massive. Good place to watch tv also
Went there on fri 26th aug it was a xmas party they had a foam machine and a fantastic dj it was packed and we had a great night!!
Truly a party pub, don't recomend the food and the beer is undrinkable. However if you like alcopops and really loud music this is the place for you. It has downgraded itself really from an ok wine bar to a loud venue pub.

This is a modern wine bar inhabiting a very imposing, three-storey building with an ornate faade, high up on which can be seen the stone inscription, Anchor Hotel 1899. According to the CAMRA Guide to North Sussex Pubs (2002), it more recently functioned as a branch of Lloyds Bank. It now consists of one very large open interior with seating mainly on long wooden benches and tables. A long wooden bar extends down the right hand side of the building, bountifully stocked with bottles of wine. Over the bar area is a skylight, a long strip of decoratively patterned glass that could possibly be original Victorian. Towards the rear of the room, three steps lead up to a raised platform housing comfy sofas and flat screen TV. A flight of stairs near the front entrance is to a first floor balcony. A blue painted telephone box stands incongruously nearby. There are about ten customers of various ages this early lunchtime. The almost equally plentiful members of staff all wear black t-shirts with the name Bar Vin on the breast pocket, the shape of a wine glass substituting for the letter i. As for the drink, well there is plenty of wine but only two handpumps for beer: one is turned round; the other advertises Harveys Best Bitter. At 1.05 it is much cheaper than I expected. Unfortunately, I also find it to be undrinkable: its distinctive flavour of hops transformed into something harsh, metallic and unpalatable. It is not off - for it is as clear as a bell with no pronounced whiff of vinegar - just not well cared for. I return it with explanations to the uncomprehending staff, exchange it for an orange juice and probably make a profit on the deal. I appreciate that Bar Vin is primarily a wine bar and eaterie, but if they intend to offer the hop as an alternative to the grape they should at least take the trouble to keep and serve real ale in better condition. On the other hand, I wonder how many of their customers would care, or even notice?

Wine Bar! Very noisy and filled with the normal types you find in a wine bar. Quite expensive, not a good range of beers.
its a wine bar very relaxed but stylish
