popped in on Dec 28th, 2 x pints of Old Dairy Copper Top in quick good nick, thought I'd try a toasted sarnie before the walk back up to Rye. £6.95 for the cheese & ham special (paid extra for the onion) what a disappointment. cheap cheese, white bread & about 5g of ham scattered sparsely through! It couldn't have cost more than 50p to put together..... what a rip off. The staff seemed unfamiliar with the till & completely ill at ease behind the bar. all in all a very amateur effort. can't wait for the Conq to re open.

A group of us, ages ranging from 1 to 86, went here on Friday evening for a meal. We were thankful that we had booked, as the place was busy, even at 7 pm. The food, all reasonably priced at about a tenner a meal, was excellent. My wife and I had the mixed grill, others had the sausage and mash or fish and chips - all of which looked and tasted good. Service was efficient and friendly. The only real ale on was Hastings Best Bitter, which was well kept and tasted good. I would recommend this pub. 'Posher' than the neighbouring William the Conqueror.

A pleasant surprise inside, as the outside is not very attractive. The Green King sign appears to be out of date as the only beer on draught was Harvey's best, which was in excellent condition and reasonably priced at 3 a pint. The food was very good and we ate fish, the pub's speciality, on both nights we visited. It was well cooked and very large. It appeared to be freshly caught and was not your normal frozen rubbish.
The staff were very friendly and efficient and we will certainly come back when we are next in the area.

Lovely little pub on the inside, good beer and excellent food at very reasonable prices, welcoming landlord and landlady. Toilets spotless. The only downside is the quite drab exterior and its location by Rye Harbour industrial estate about a mile and a half outside the town centre, but worth the trip.

Superb locals pub. The ale is well kept and the service is spot on. The pub itself retains that 'proper pub' feeling but the food was dire. The kitchen staff seem flustered for no real reason. The ping of the dreaded microwave was telling. However it is well worth visiting for the atmosphere and the ale.

We arrived at The Inkerman Arms at approximatley 12.15pm. The landlord was friendly and pleased to see us, walking boots, ruck sacks and all and served us 2 nice pints of real ale from hand pumps. I had Green King IPA and my friend had a pint of Harvey's. Both were well kept and very enjoyable. The pub is popular despite being in an out of the way place and started to get quite busy so we ordered our meals. I had Pan Fried Skate Wing, new potatoes and vegetables at 12 (Not bad for the size of the fish) My Companion had a medium, battered, cod and chips priced at 8.95, again not bad for the size of the fish. Great that again he also was able to choose new potatoes and Veg rather than chips. The vegetables were well cooked and they were also plentiful.
We were very pleased with quality of the food AND the dining experience and will go back again
This pub is (certainly at lunchtimes) more of an eatery than a drinking man's pub but it is clean, fresh and well furnished. I would not reccomend it to young people who wish to drink copious pints of lager and eat burgers and chips and I wonder if the 3 identical comments (could this have been used to reduce the pubs rating score unfairly?) by the previous reviewer indicate that he may be a disgruntled young person finding a local pub that was more atune to middle aged patrons? If so shame on him. If not then I respect his opinion and perhaps his experience was different to mine. For Me this pub deserves 9 10 a good friendly local serving a good pint and excellent food. Well Done Inkerman Arms

A pub frequented by the local caravan site clientele. Hilarious if you want to hear the latest views on this years 'must have' 2 berth MDF hell with drive in Lav and flat screen 999 inch telly. Food is O.K and portions are good, though I prefer the more rough and ready raffishness available at the William the Konk just up the road.

Rye Harbour is a little gem of a village if you enjoy fresh air & the outdoor life. To find the Inkerman added to my day. Well cooked, good portions of very local fish a must.
|
Good beer but poor food, definiely a case of quantity over quality, not a bad pub but a dreadful location.
|
Good fish and chips here. Not a bad pub, just a shame that it's hidden away in Rye Harbour. Would certainly be busier if it was in Rye town.
Beers not half bad but if no guest ales are on you're stuck with the Greene King beer range.
|
Nice pub - excellent food (especially if you like fish). The beer is also kept very well - tend to have good local guests as well as Harveys. The only problem is that it is in Rye Harbour.
|
Excellent food, large portions!
Service usually fairly swift at the bar, you may have to wait a little while for the food if they are busy.
Interesting decor - fishing boats and local fish - some of which are on the menu.

Traditional old-fashioned pub partially given over to a food area. Well worth the 2 mile walk from Rye (through the smelly industrial estate!!) 7/10.
