Must agree with the last post a great turnaround for this pub .Had a very nice curry washed down with far too many pints of directors it is very very well kept and is dangerously morish

Noted that the last review is some three years ago....
Way cleaner and way nicer than it used to be, still very much a locals pub but now trouble free, which is a credit to the Indian guys who are now running it.
The beer is well looked after, Directors or Hobgoblin are the best choices and a Symonds cider tap too!
The curry menu has now been extended, the food being of really good quality and at a reasonable price.
As a previous poster noted, the chilli wang wangs are nice (hot wings) but you get 10 for a starter, best to share! Also, the starters do have have a habit of arriving with the main courses, but hey, it's a pub not a proper indian restaurant, bit the food is as good as a restaurant!

I'd like to adjust my rating, having got to know the staff etc, it's actually not a bad pub. Yes it's for locals and it can on the odd occasion kick off but not as often as it used to. Becks Blue is no longer served, in fact no alcohol free lager any more which is a shame. Only 1 pool table now, Dart Board but not seen a quiz night in there for a while. Currys are nice, especially the Chilli Wang Wangs!

Karaoke every other Saturday night the only redeeming feature. Becks Alcohol Free the same price as a regular Becks put me off straight away.
Dirty looking pub and can be trouble, although their Curry's are quite nice.

somethings never change - even now changed owners still no better still 'young' people getting served

I was growing to really like this pub and tried to pop in every time I was in Crawley. It is a bit rough and Spirit, the owners, need to fix the roof and give it a good clean; and there are only usually two handpulled beers, but those are well kept and I normally manage to chat to someone.
I went in 23rd Dec. It was busy I had been there about an our when I got called a northern c+++ . Now talking to locals is always a risk, but I went to school near here here and the bloke who abused and his mate me had been shouting f's all night; and there had been a young girl wandering around as well. I looked at the manageress. She did nothing. I walked out.

I used to like this pub; but now it is a depressing place, untidy and dowdy. Poor choice of bitters.
|
To be honest, since the faceless 'manageress' has taken over, the place has ended up as a vastly understaffed and attitude-riddled hole. The quality of the food has gone downhill - badly. If you like to be surrounded by staff swearing constantly and sticky uncleared tables full of old glasses then this is for you. I used to respect this as my local but I'd rather drink my own piss to be honest.

Decent pub for a pre-match drink if going to a Crawley Town game. Whenever I've been in the staff have been helpful and friendly and the locals don't bother you. Better than many pubs in the area.
|
what a crap pub, hasn't even got any staff and looked the same after the redecoration had been done

Great pub. This used to be my local and I would actually say, this is the best pub in the whole of Crawley.
|
Top pub. Pool, darts, plenty of space, decent prices.
They put vaseline on the toilet tops to stop people sniffing in there. That didn't work so they put sand down.
LEGENDARY!
Even aside from that it's a top family venue.

Always friendly. Hard working friendly staff. Great service. Both excellent bars.

tucked away in Southgate, and recently done up (to look like a pub, not a sports-bar or a plastic paddy's). Friendly service and well kept beer. Pool & darts in the public bar. Excellent quiz on Wednesday nights
