A decent pub in Oldham town centre with a good choice of cask ales, about a minute's walk from Oldham Central Metrolink stop.

Friendly old-fashioned pub, with good real ales. Handy 1st stopping off point if going to the Up Steps.

Ventured into here yesterday for the first time after fancying trying it for a while.
This is a pretty old fashioned looking pub inside - a bit shabby, grubby even, worn out seating and carpet - a proper boozer some might say!
At the bar there were 8 hand pumps, of which 3 were off. Joseph Holt Bitter on offer along with two by Ossett Brewing Co (Nervous Turkey plus another I cannot recall), another ale which I didn't note, and a 7% cider too. I went for the Nervous Turkey which was a decent enough pint. Set me back £2.50 which I think is pretty reasonable.
On my afternoon visit there were a few people dotted around on the seats across the two levels and one merry propping up the bar who I imagine should be called Frank - a friendly enough and harmless chap.
Worth investigating, a bit different to your larger pubs in Oldham.

Another excellent pub in Oldham town centre. Normally this would have been my favourite pub of the day. But for once, the Wetherspoons surpassed it. This is a split-level pub, with the bar on a slightly raised area. Had a good selection of ales and a real cider too. Ales were Rat Cheating Rat, Holts Bitter, Abbeydale JW Morton's Typopotamus Moisturising Mud Pack, Burton Bridge Porter & Phoenix Hopsack. The cider was Gwynt y Ddraig Farmhouse Scrumpy. Just time for a half of the Porter and a half of the cider before getting the bus to the football. A fine end to the day's drinking.

Decent pub with good ales - one of the few reasons to bother getting off the tram at Oldham.

Popped in for a couple pre v Col U game. Nice pint of Phoenix Spotland Gold and an absolute belter of a pint from Penpont called Cornish Gold...others available, good pub.
Cracking boozer in centre of Oldham, with an outstanding selection of real ales. Top notch pint of Salamander Brewery "Spectrum". Disappointed with the slightly offish reaction to charging ones mobile phone in there!
An oasis in a desert. Oldham doesn't have too many good pubs but this is possibly the best in the town centre. I'd recommend this pub if your attending the Oldham beer fest on the 27-28th April.
The best pub in Oldham bar none mind you there isn't much choice. Good choice of real ales and German and Belgium beers in the fridge. They always serve a local real ale which is always on good form. Good pub grub that is excellent value for money.
Visited the other night looking forward to a nice pint of Millstone's Tiger Rut, but was unfortunately refused due to only having a provisional driving license as a form of identification for my age.
A shame, considering it's a damn good pub, but I don't think anyone would illegally purchase a fake provisional driving license and out of all the pubs in Oldham visit a dedicated real ale house.
So, carried on up the hill to the Up Steps Wetherspoons instead, where they were more than happy to take my I.D, and serve me a nice beer as a result.
Overall: Go in if you're over 25. Otherwise, be sure you're equipped with your birth certificate.

Just visited this pub again, whilst still an excellent pub with a good selection of well kept ales i noticed a lot of the pints pulled were well short of being full pints, there were heads of over an inch and at no time was an offer to top up made by the barman, no one actually asked for a top up either, strange considering they were such short measures. Hope this dosent become the norm here.

Nothing that special to look at, but once inside you get an immediate impression that this is a proper pub with a friendly atmosphere that will appeal to regulars and visitors alike. The split-level, single bar layout is perhaps a little awkward, but on the other hand it gives a range of seating areas to suit different sized groups. I think I counted six real ales and two draught ciders, and my pint of the local Boggart Rum Porter was first class (as is the pub as whole).

Excellent pub with a good range of well kept real ales. Friendly atmosphere, great place to enjoy a pint or two, best in oldham by a mile.
Visited with Saints on Saturday and this was an excellent pub. Around seven real ales including Pennine, Pictish, Acorn, Copper Dragon, Moorhouses and Prospect. Decent list of foreign bottled beer too. Beers they've had are listed on various boards around the walls but they've given up counting. Friendly locals, top notch.
A friendly welcome and an excellent range of well-kept real ales. I tried the Phoenix Hopsack and Coach House Lemon and Ginger. Also serves excellent value meals. A 'must visit' when in Oldham.
As noted, the must-visit pub in Oldham town centre. It's split level and opened out but with some exposed brickwork and amusing things on the wall to give it character. Mixture of traditional seating and modern sofas- I can imagine this'd be a great place to while away a Sunday afternoon. Also a Boddingtons table football set in front of the impressive real fireplace- shame its summer! Had A Barnsley IPA which was top class, even though an IPA. $ other microbrewed mostly local ales and 2 real ciders too. The service is friendly and the punters warm and welcoming. A commitment to sport means most events are shown on 1 unobtrusive TV. This is a great pub to which I hope to return soon.

The Ashton Arms is a top pub - I should know cos one of my relatives works there. Excellent selection of real ales, ciders and continental bootled beer - good value food. Beware of the resident ghost (George) though . . .
Best pub in Oldham town centre by a street length. 5 guest ales usually a real cider, friendly welcome. Gives away free food during Oldham Beer festival. If you only have time to visit one pub in Oldham make it this one. If you have more time then stay here!
Proper pub which gave a very warm welcome on a very wet day. The perfect place to hide from the rain with very good quality at a fair price. Recommended.
Last port of call on my real ale bus trip, and really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and good real ales. Plenty of ale choice, and yes this is a real pub. I do like the Welly in Brum though as it is my local.
A great place to escape for a pint while out shopping. Not the best looking pub, inside or out, but don't let that put you off. There are no pretentions to be anything other than a pub catering for the real beer drinker. At least six constantly changing real ales, an oasis of real ale of in town centre Oldham.
What the Wellington in Brum ought to be liked, relaxed (seats), sensible but ambitious beer range, and pleasant (not a smoky haze)
One of the most welcoming pubs I know, don't be put off by Oldham town centre's reputation - this is different, fab dog too!
Has at least 6 constantly changing real ales and 3 ciders as well as the usual beers. also super continental bottled beers and good wines. Atmosphere is very friendly and low key with regulars from all walks of life. Raises lots of money for different charities during the year and the Easter Beer Festival was superb---best kept beer for miles around.Has good home-cooked food specials on such as duck a muffin and always different home-made curries and soups.Doesn't do food at weekends though.

Has darts, table football, quiz night and food weekdays. Also has regular beer festivals. Reminds me of the Queens Arms, Cheetham Hill. No TV's.
Busy Town Centre Pub. Always has a Good Choice of local Real Ales.
