please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub is by far the best in Dawlsih warren they have a good selection of beers / ales for my dad and the menu is great, food is always cooked fresh and i can recommend the chicken supreme with side salad :)
the specials board is always changing as well and has more than one option!!

Nice pub, lovely view, very nice pint of Otter Ale. For some reason the place suddenly filled up with coffin dodgers (at about 5pm on a Thursday) though I don't know whether that's a regular thing for Dawlish Warren, being a Londoner.

Don't for the love of God let anyone tell you it's "about 15 minutes' walk" from Dawlish (not Warren), because he's lying. And it's on a hill.

The best pub in Dawlish Warren by far. A decent interior with a good selection of ales on tap. A little expensive mind but this is a tourist area.
The view as mentioned is impressive it looks and feels like the pub is gonna topple down the hillside! 8/10

I have been in the pub game for 30 years and i give the food 10/10. The beer 10/10.. My only gripe is it dont belong to me..

Got to admit i like this pub as a place to stop and admire the view, and i've never found the staff rude or impolite but as for the menu, it's abit pretentious and sorry susan but most people like a specials board to change from time to time this one gets changed about as often as my nephews socks. it shows lack of imagination with the food so for that reason my family now eat elsewhere.

PS: I meant to say that some people here claim that the specials board doesn't change often enough, I actually really like that because you get what you want. The only problem I have here is that the menu is ENORMOUS and I can never make my mind up.

This place has just had a bit of a refurbishment, and whilst it still looks and feels homely and welcoming, it's also got amazing views over the beach, across the estuary, all the way to Exmouth.
The food is great - loads of choice so there was something for everyone, and it was served piping hot with plentiful quantities. We aren't beer drinkers, so can't tell you much about that, but they had a good choice of wines and other drinks. Prices seem reasonable, service was good despite it being really busy. I live locally so can also say that it's consistently good VFM.

We were a bit disapointed with this pub. From the outside it looked like a
pleasant place with a nice patio garden.
But the inside a a bit like a cafe not a pub and the jacket pototoe with salad
was not very good at all so only a 4/10 from me.

child friendly great views, beer can vary, specials board need changing as it rarely varies, and you may be lucky and get a decent meal but on the whole predictable deep fried pub muck with a few exeptions

this is a lovely looking pub with stunning views over the bay but on the one occaision I've used it the staff were disinterested, bordering on rude, and the food was rubbish, I had a "chefs special " lasagne, which was just some dodgy looking slop with hardly any pasta, and my wife had a grizzly steak, and the ale was just about okay

Just spent new years eve at the mount. fabulous evening at a reasonable price, the food was very good as was the service. The owner /landlord and their families are welcoming, as are the bar staff. Fantastic views during the day. An old traditional looking pub with traditional values. We've spent many evenings here with various friends and always been made to feel welcome.

Looks like my nans lounge and smells like it too. Food is subpar as is all the rest. might just have been a bad day but i doubt it. Ales do exsist here but just the same as you would find anywhere else in the area only of a lower standard.

We were staying in Dawlish Warren, and tried this place last night. It was a Weds, and around 645pm. Place was quiet. Unlike some other places, this didn't have the mass-produced menu feel to it. We ordered the potato skins and some olives as starter. we;;-presented skins, but maybe a bit overcooked, and the blue-cheese dip was a little intense. For mains, I had gammon steak, and got a large, thick, juciy steak. Chips were fair. My wife had the canelloni, which was also tasy (but why would pasta come with chips and peas?!). The kids had the usual meals: chicken nuggets, and turkey dinosaur. Standard stuff, but they finished it all. Decent, if unspectacular food.

One of the best things, though, was the great view over the bay! We will probably try it again before we go home.

Good location and lovely food! I think the best in the area.

Fabulous views, slightly disappointed by the food but the beer was ok - well, average, I suppose.
UlricVonBek - 23 Jul 2008 22:17
stunning views, apart from that...rubbish food, rubbish service

I would like to add a new review of this pub. The food is 10 on 10, the drinks are 10 on 10, The male bar staff are very handsome and the lady bar staff are very pretty. It's worth going just to see the bar maid with the huge knockers alone.
Brianharvey - 26 Jun 2008 01:17
I've been to this pub several times. The staff are on the whole very nice and polite, though some times they do not have enough bar staff on at busy times. The food is OK but over priced and the beer is very over priced. The view is stunning and they have some of the prettiest bar staff ever created.

it's a shame that such a lovely pub with such stuning views think that's enough to drag in the mug holiday punters, thing is during the peak season there probably right, and good food and service, even common courtacy arn't really nesessary

Don't bother, Great views but thats about all, Big place with rubbish beer and rubbish food.

back from dawlish, and as I said went in here for a meal on Saturday night, and after waiting about ten minutes for the surley barmaid to grace me by agnologing my presence,I managed to order a beer, got seated at our reserved table, and I ordered the chefs special lasagne, which unfortunatly turned out to be some dodgy slop, with very little meat or pasta, the views are spectacular and it's a great setting, but I think that's what you pay for rather than good food or service, didn't bother going back, had a lasaggne in the wetherspoons in Torquay a few days later and it was a 100% better, well worth a visit if your in Torquay

Great setting and nice atmosphere. No chance of food on a weekend evening without booking.

galexy - 27 Nov 2004 20:19
lovely views from the pub, over to exmouth, thou the maels tend to be more geared towards the restaurant side of the business
cheryl - 23 Sep 2004 10:54
wonderful views from dinning area, brillant food and good vaule for money with a warm welcome.
Kelly - 12 Jul 2004 18:52
The nearest railway station to this pub is at Dawlish Warren, about 5 mins walk away, not the two stations you mention. Visited the pub a few times, food is good, but always check the specials board, and the real ale is usually good.
P. Betteridge - 26 Sep 2003 19:50
Beautiful views of the sea and Exmouth from this pub in the cliffs. Lovely food and friendly service.
anonymous - 18 Jun 2003 16:54
