Continues to be a strange pub - they have bingo sessions on a Sunday night and the car park doubles up as a parking area for tradesmen full of white vans no matter how empty the pub is
Shabby interior disappointed me as did the pint of washing up water I had to drink.
A lovely community pub that was a pleasure to visit. The staff are wonderful and helpful and the locals are so friendly they make you very welcome. What a change to experience such a lovely pub, with lovely garden and flowers. Its an excellent pub ... well done

Expensive poorly managed pub, it has an absentee Landlord who on his fleeting visits has never got behind the bar to serve his paying customers. What a way to run a pub.

The Barley mow is a peaceful little country pub in the fruitful town of Maidenhead. After a blissful walk sight seeing we stumbled upon this beautiful gem in the heart of the historic cox green area. The pub was mainly occupied buy groups of friendly young women and we was made very comfortable.
Then "they" arrived. The calm paradise was suddenly infiltrated by an army that can only be described with two words... Prolific Geezers. Some scrambled for saftey amongst the battlefield of beer, chanting and banter, others were not so lucky. Upon my eyes i witnessed men dive through mountains of wotsits and seas of jager bombs. The local animal known as Jesus stole my woman, a nutcase named wheeler hijacked the jukebox and bled my ears with oasis.
Fending for my life i managed to crawl outside to safety into the loving strong arms of a lady named Ruth who helped me escape. Down the road i met a quivering group of boys who called themselves magpies. they had been banished from the Barley and told me if i wanted a safe night i should have gone to the Thached cottage.
The unspeakable events that take place in the notorious Barley mow may haunt me for my remaining days. If you have the bravery and liver then enter at your own peril, for this pub belongs to the Barley Army who will stand their ground.

The barley mow is a great little boozer, great staff all round which Is rare these days, pride taken to run this pub,the barley doesn't supply food so what, eatings cheating,if you want food go to a restaurant...oh and ben Shockley I hope your dick gets stuck up dopeytarts arsehole ;)
Dopytart I hope you die of Ebola too. This is the barley mow fc's pub! We make the atmosphere, we are also prolific geezers! Your mums a ho
Ben Shockley you've had a shocker
Ben Shockley! Hope you die of Ebola. The barley mow is the best pub in Berkshire and we also have the best football team in Berkshire! We make the noise and the atmosphere great pub!
Local boozer, no food to soak up the drunks that frequent it!! The language that comes out frim there!! Used to be a nice little pub with friendly atmosphere, would never bring kids here. Weekends full of 20 something footballers who have no volume control or consideration for local residents. Glasses and bottles left all down road. Real shame. Best avoid!!

June 2014 It's price hike time of the year again at this rip off establishment - £0.10 per pint. A once well run pub serving food this place is a shadow of it's former self
This used to be a wonderful well run Pub. Now it's customer base consists of pond life. The beer range is quite good and the landlord (when you can find him) does like his real ales, but it is spoilt on the locals. I agree that on Sunday's it can be havoc in there with the drunks and kids running around
There's no food.
This place could have a future if it was well run and the low life was kicked out.
Sunday night is Pond Life night here - A bunch of beered and doped up scrotes take over the bar chanting, effing and blinding. Staff indifferent to the out of control situation. This pub is a shadow of it's former well run self, not the sort of place to come to for a quiet drink. Best avoided there are far less intimidating pubs to spend your money in.
Maverick69 is unfortunately wrong. Prices in this pub have not risen for over 1 year despite 3 rises from breweries, landlords and vat.... I suggest you get your facts right.... What makes it even funnier that now the Foresters have open they are much more expensive than the Barely Mow. This pub is a very friendly pub and will do anything they can to help. BBQ on weekend in good weather, a proper local pub.... well done Barley Mow
Price increase's r us
2 increases in a fortnight including a cynical one to welcome Foresters customers whilst that boozer is closed for a refurb
The Budget is coming up shortly so expect another price hike
I must be a glutton for punishment returning to this overpriced boozer. To get to the bar one often has to negotiate dogs and children running loose.
Talking about bars - has anyone ever seen the Landlord actually behind it serving. On his rare appearances he can be found on the customer side of the bar watching your money go into his till.
Dreadful place. I used to be a regular here back in the day (late 80's - thru the 90's) and it was a fantastic little boozer with great food back then.
I don't think they serve food at all now, all the character has been stripped away. Basically devoid of any positive characteristics.
Avoid.
(p.s. still love it though as it holds hundreds of fantastic memories for me ;) )

Lively pub, good service with staff attentive to customers. If music is a bit loud then it gets turned down!!! Excellent choice of beers from local brewery as well as national standards like London Pride. Quiz Night is Tuesdays when it can get really busy on occasions. Not eaten there for years
An excellent pub - well done. Really enjoy the atmosphere and at least you can get served quickly, unlike the Thatch. Watching the rugby in excellent company makes for a fantastic day. Looking forward to the beer festival in April.
Jan 2011 - big placard outside boasting "No VAT Increase Here !" - very true........they must think we've all got "MUG" written on our foreheads - prices were hiked up once again before Christmas. Off to the Thatched Cottage for a reasonably priced 1.99 pint of Greene King IPA
Over 3.00 a pint is taking the Mickey

After this pub recently came under new management, the pub has been given a completely new look, and I can now proudly say that i drink at this pub regularly. Great food including sandwiches, sky sports HD, and the best pint of London Pride around. Much better than other local pubs, great atmosphere and great drinks. A definite recommendation.
This pub has gone downhill - once famed for it's food now little on offer. Word is that the lease is up and the place is going back to the pub owning company shortly. Shouldn't complain though as anywhere is better than the Foresters down the road.
Went there for the first time this evening, for a quiet pint after a long day's work. London Pride was excellent and staff were friendly enough while I was paying them for my beer, but otherwise showed no interest - even though I sat up at the bar. Tellingly, they didn't even bid me a good evening when I left. I would say that this place has the potential to be very good but it felt to me a bit like an estate pub, where you need to be known. Seven out of ten, and would have been five if not for the excellent beer.
good food, friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Great little pub.
"does exactly what it says on the tin", no bells, no whistles, but decent.
Only tried by me at lunchtimes. Pleasant atmosphere, decent food and good range of beers, including real ales. The lunchtime bar staff seems to consist of one friendly old man but he ably copes. Evenings may be quite different, especially if this pub becomes frequented by the Cox Green Chavs....
Great beer, good food, A good little country pub.
Nice little country pub.
