I thought I'd been to the best pubs that Norwich had to offer. But on Saturday night, I stumbled into the Plasterers Arms and found one of the best in this city with a great selection. Of 16 pubs I tried in Norfolk on this day, the Plasterers was the best. There is one L-shaped bar and another small snug behind the bar. But, you can pack quite a few in. Cask ales were All Day Stag Beetle, Totally Brewed Slap In The Face, Ampersand Sickle & Torpor, Three Blind Mice Casual Philip, Wylam Galatia, East London Brewery Night Watchman, Tapstone Opium Wars, Truman's Beer Nouveua (an 8.3% barley wine) & Roll Out The Barrel & Adnams Mosaic. I went for the Torpor, a 7% Baltic Porter. Very nice it was too. Although, prices are steep here. The real cider was Gwynt y Ddraig Ancient Warrior. Craft beers included 6 from Tool, including a 10.8% Imperial Stout and Damn Dead Gooseberry from Wild Weather. I dread to think what these were priced at. Definitely a place I want to return to. A firm 9/10 from me.

Oakham jhb
Five points brewing co five points pale
Poppy land black wit
Greene King Benjamin's
Golden triangle citropolis
Golden triangle mosaic
Burning sky auralis
Barrel and sellers stout
Norfolk brew house golden
Redemption trinity
7 pale, 2 stout, 1 gk Amber with cardamom and coriander

When will Brewers and landlords return to our roots and cater for drinkers that do not like citrus grapefruit, lemon, kiwi, melon etc etc. There is a large number that like traditional bitter beers. 10 pumps on, 7 are pale and taste of lemons, 2 are stout and the only Amber beer is flavoured with cinnamon, cardamom and coriander. If only I could buy a curry, I could have poured my beer on that!

Visited Norwich last week and this was our second favourite pub - only beaten by the original Fat Cat, and that one does take some beating. The Plasterer's was friendly (very nice and helpful young barmaid) and the choice and quality of beer was very good. Well worth a visit.

My second visit here was a Saturday afternoon after a lunchtime match. Wide beer and cider selection, all we tried in good condition. Busy for thetime of day.
Great community pub with a local feel.

Fab all round. Great beer, sports, music, handmade pizzas, a quiz and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Brilliant

I absolutely love this place. Since it fell under new ownership it has just got better and better; the bar staff are really friendly and laid-back, and there's a great and ever-changing selection of keg and cask ales, as well as plenty of bottled lagers and ciders and a fine selection of spirits. For such a small place its bar is really well stocked!

As a sports lover the fact it has Sky and BT Sport is a huge bonus, although there's only one screen so make sure to get there early if you want a seat for big games. The bar billiards table is a great novelty too - only 50p a game for 20 minutes, it's surprisingly addictive and they have their own team in the Norwich league. Decent selection of board games, too, if that's your thing.

There are frequent events on - lots of 'takeover nights' from local breweries, live blues music every Sunday afternoon/evening, an open fire for those cold winter nights and - for the time being at least - even a top-notch pizza restaurant operating out of the kitchen area!

Although it's a little way out of town, this is fast becoming one of the city's best-loved pubs. It's a really welcoming environment, and as such has a very wide age demographic. The only downside is a lack of beer garden for those warm summer evenings - but on Sundays when the music's on, it's often so busy that the party spills out onto the street!

I visited the Plasterers Arms recently during the City of Ale week and think it was probably the best pub we went to! They had a fantastic selection of Cask Ale (we counted 15 pumps) and a big selection of craft keg beers too. Friendly, welcoming and great atmosphere. The pizzas were good too.

Had a few drinks in here last Friday, was cornered by the barman coming out of the loo and he checked my nostrils for remnants of cocaine! Thought this was very rude and also indicative of the kind of clientele the pub attracts. There was a DJ set up in the bar playing some awful music too. Wont be going back.

Bit of grim walk from Ketts Tavern in the dark - terraced housing, industry, busy roads on the way - but well worth the walk. Pub very quiet on a Tuesday night. 10 ales on - and there were 15 on when I came Saturday afternoon. Bear range impressive, a lot of local brews - Golden Triangle Red Dragon was the best. Beer price was £2.90/pint - the more you drink the more you save. Did have an astringent Wolf Dog Star but it was replaced with Lupus Lupus and the pump clip turned round. One of the best Norwich pubs. Barmaid was friendly and so were the 2 male staff on Friday afternoon.

Recently visited this sympathetically refurbed pub and it is now another absolute gem in the already excellent drinking city of Norwich. 15 (many local) ales to have a go at served by a knowledgeable and friendly barmaid. On my visit all were in fine condition, my favourite being the Northcote Cow Tower.

Interesting real ales both local (Tipples, Spectrum) and 'foreign', mainly from micros. One not in nice condition was taken off as soon as I pointed it out - others were all tip top. Evening started a bit deserted but warmed up after nine o'clock.

The pub has really been refurbished nicely; bar staff friendly and chatty, and a 10% discount for CAMRA members too.

This has recently changed ownership and become a real ale drinkers heaven !
15 real ale were on and these were all displayed on a huge blackboard which is a great help !
Barmaid Alex was one of the most enthusiastic members of staff i have met in a long time. Her knowledge of real ale was also very good. And the pub also allowed tasters which is a nice touch when the choice is so vast.
Tried the Salopian Lemon Dream and one from Spectrum who's name escapes me.Both were served in tip top condition.
Norwich already has a huge amount of choice for real ale but I would put this up with the Fat Cat as one of the best and would recommend anyone who is having a real ale crawl to add this to the list.

Nice pint of Broadside. Friendly barmaid.

Almost like a country pub in the suburbs. Full of local characters, a people watcher's paradise. Adnams and Abbots beers on tap.

pleasant pub near anglia square and will be a shame if it goes like ed mentions. nice interior and a few different beers to choose from.

Have just heard that this is one of a number of pubs Adnams are 'selling off' as a result of the smoking ban which was going to produce such an influx of new customers. It would be nice to think a characteful back street local like this would have a safe future in new hands, but given that only one Norwich resident has posted a review on this site in the last three and a half years I'd say things don't look too promising for this former Good Beer Guide regular.

Looks quite drab and unappealing from the outside, an impression not helped by a whole host of notices on the door telling you you'll be banned if you do this that or the other, you can't come in at certain times etc. However once inside you'll find yourself in quite a cosy and comfortable pub- carpetted lounge with big fish tank, dark wooden beams, cushioned seats etc. The beers are from Adnams and are served in pretty good condition. I went in on my own and witnessed the phenomenon of everyone else in the pub, bar staff and all, disappearing outside for a fag and leaving me as sole occupant. Since I have no objection to cigarette smoke I wonder exactly who is supposed to be benefitting from this ban! Anyway this is a nice enough 'local', worth a visit if you're in this part of Norwich

This pub used to be a favourite of mine and was run a character who used to collect weird and wonderful ornaments which were on display in the bar.One artefact that springs to mind was a pair of stuffed mating squirrels,The beer and atmosphere was unique as well.Sorry to say but this pub is now in my Norwich pub list of shame ,once again owing to rude barstaff.

On a weekend crawl of Norwich's finest twenty pubs, this was one of my favourites and it was the first of the evening. There's a bit of a biker buzz to the place but the beer was fantastic and the bar staff friendly.
