The Plasterers Arms, Norwich

I absolutely love this place. Since it fell under new ownership it has just got better and better; the bar staff are really friendly and laid-back, and there's a great and ever-changing selection of keg and cask ales, as well as plenty of bottled lagers and ciders and a fine selection of spirits. For such a small place its bar is really well stocked!

As a sports lover the fact it has Sky and BT Sport is a huge bonus, although there's only one screen so make sure to get there early if you want a seat for big games. The bar billiards table is a great novelty too - only 50p a game for 20 minutes, it's surprisingly addictive and they have their own team in the Norwich league. Decent selection of board games, too, if that's your thing.

There are frequent events on - lots of 'takeover nights' from local breweries, live blues music every Sunday afternoon/evening, an open fire for those cold winter nights and - for the time being at least - even a top-notch pizza restaurant operating out of the kitchen area!

Although it's a little way out of town, this is fast becoming one of the city's best-loved pubs. It's a really welcoming environment, and as such has a very wide age demographic. The only downside is a lack of beer garden for those warm summer evenings - but on Sundays when the music's on, it's often so busy that the party spills out onto the street!
