I probably liked this place better than number 1 because there was a better choice of ales although a few local beers wouldn't go a miss. The clientele seemed friendlier and we're quite knowledgeable on there beers. The landlord made an effort to talk to us and was talking about what kind of impact the wetherspoons (that is due to be completed in the summer) would have on the local pub scene in cleethorpes. It would be a shame to see this place close but I feel a few beer festivals and a beer that could be brewed by the pub itself would help it survive.

Would agree with the last comment. The place always seems to be frequented by drunks and the beer quality is often appalling. All the brews (bar one) are from the 'global giants' ie Worthington, M&B, Hancocks etc and are served freezing cold and taste metallic for some reason. Tend to stay away from this one but pop in every now and again in the hope it has improved. It opens quite early on in the morning (8ish I think) and on que, the local characters appear......... How on earth it is in the GBG is beyond me, let alone the winner of the best pub in Cleethorpes......more than once !

dissapointed in this bar, after reading the write up in the GBG. Beer uninspiring and lack of atmosphere

One of the best pubs for choice of ale, but mirror other comments re not that inspiring or well kept. Should be better than it is. Still, it's an unusual place and worth a visit if you're in the area. Locals are a bit 'rough' but not that rough that they make you feel unwelcome.

Disappointed with this one. Seven beers but mostly Greene King derivatives. Wold Top Bunny's Revenge wasn't in great condition.

Named so because it is under the clock on Cleethorpes rail station. It is extremely compact with the bar on the left and the seating on the right. Despite its size, it had 6 handpumps for real ale but only 5 were on. A rather uninspiring collection but acceptable. Seating was comfortable butof course due its size did not sell food on any kind. Despite its location it was full of locals.

Came here prior to the Grimsby v Bath City game (2-0 to City - get in there! ;) )
Had a pint of stout (think it was from the Yorkshire Brewery??)
Out of the 3 pubs in Cleethorpes and Grimsby I visited this was the only one I found serving real ale. Was a good find.

An excellent, welcoming pub on the railway station.

Interesting little place. Welcoming, clean and busy with locals around the bar. Surprising amount of real ales available for such a small pub. The small fenced 'beer garden' area on the station concourse was busy too. Beer quality good and service quick and friendly. Ideal for a pint while you wait to escape from Cleethorpes!

Realale always top form, now CAMRA pub of the year (2007) for the fourth time !

Called in here a couple of weeks ago one Sunday afternoon, my second visit. Clean and comfortable surroundings and a welcoming atmosphere lacking any pretensions. Some decent real ales.Worth a visit if you enjoy a peaceful pint.

Quiet and relaxing, and superb H&H Olde Trip

"Friendly" is a pub description which is overused but not in this case. Voted CAMRA Grimsby branch "Pub of the Year" in 2006 for the third year running. They say that good things come in little packages and the No.2 is a prime example.

Known as "Under the Clock" due to it's location under the clocktower of Cleethorpes station. Has a small "Beer Garden" on the station concourse and now has it's own toilets! For years it didn't and you had to ask for the key to the one on the station itself. Well worth a visit, particularly in the summer.

Not too bad inside but the real ale selection was a bit boring.
