The previous landlord let the business go quite a bit. The pub is now under new management and the landlady (my sister) is trying to get this magnificent old pub back on its feet again. She has done a lot of work on it over the last few months but there is still much to do, so please pop in and give her your support if you can. Thanks!

Closed as of April 2014. When visiting in previous years have always enjoyed the Sunday carvery, and was disappointed and surprised to find it closed, as it was always so busy.

this could be such a nice pub, they do serve good food and a carvery, however it ffels like you are very unwelcome as it is obvioulsy for 'locals' as everyone seems to go quiet when you walk in!!

Not the best of places if i'm honest. The interior is boring and bland like a cafe more than a pub. Drinks were ok but the standard of the food was poor will not be gong back. 4/10

Brilliant service, felt really welcome good friendly staff. they do carverys and good choice on menu which all really tasty and my family all enjoyed their meals so very happy. Really good friendly family pub with nice areas to sit outside out front and back pub . Overall very enjoyable and relaxed meal and drinks with family will be returning very soon as good prices to

We come down every year to Dawlish Warren and surrounding area and absolutely love the place. We always make a point of calling into The Welcome Inn which has seen major improvements since our first visit. With the kids, its hard to find places that cater for the family and gives great value for money and this ticks all the boxes. Good food, friendly staff and true family. Top marks

This is first time we have been back to the warren since 2008. we called in to the Welcome hoping it had change... we were right what a dive,if you want to stand at a bar waiting to get served then this is the place to go and when you do the beer is sxxt. As a pulican of 30years i cannot understand how a place as bad as this is still trading..If the pub was mine i would sake the lot..The pub deserves better. my rating for this dump is -10/10

We were disapointed in this pub. From the outside it looked a nice place with a good patio garden. But inside was dissapointing not as cosy as we had hoped and more like a cafe. The jacket potatoe and salad we had was not good at all. Can only give it a 4/10

Just got back from a weeks holiday in Dawlish and ate at the Welcome Inn at Dawlish warren 3 times - twice for meals from the menu and once for the Carvery. We have nothing but praise for this place. The food was freshly prepared, the service on the first night was quite slow, despite the fact that the place wasn't too busy, but I have no issues about a bit of a wait if the food is fresh. The Carvery is something else - extremely popular, generous portions of meat with a choice of 2 or 3 meats on the menu. As usual at Carveries you will always get the morons who have to see if they can get into the guiness book of records for the amount they can pile on their plate, then leave half of it - this was true of the Welcome Inn clientele!
A final word on the staff, each time we ate there the same staff were on duty, they were polite and very efficient - tables were cleared quickly.

Just got back from holiday at dawlish warren and visited the welcome inn quite a few times for the carvery .Very good value for money 5.95 for adults ad 2.95 for children the place has had a bit of work done the toilets especially Would recommend to anyone.also had the breakfast which also was very good value for money.

Its been taken over and despite the lick of paint still needs a major makeover. not enough punters to keep the beer fresh.

Dump. nuff said

Popped in here recently whilst on holiday in Dawlish Warren. The place is very outdated and scruffy. We were going to order some food but after a visit to the toilets we quickly changed our minds and finished our drinks before leaving. This place seriously needs some money spent on it. Would be unsuprised to see this pub shut down if I visited next year.

Just got home after spending xmas in Devon. What can be said about The Welcome Inn, answer nothing. The place is never open and when it is the beer is very poor indeed. The staff are rude and uncaring, the place is dirty and smelly. As this was our first visit since June 07 we were shocked as then it was a welcoming inn what a shame. Unlike my last review of this pub i will now be telling my mates not to go near the place...
|
Visited here a few times in early 2007 and couldn't fault it. The staff were slow but I think most were in training, The carvery was excellent if you got in early so it was still fresh, Sat on the beautiful terrace outside, will be back.
|
Dont know whats going on here, visited this place a few times recently to find it shut!!! According to the Christmas leaflet it is supposed to be open every night in Nov/Dec til Midnight....its not!
|
the welcome has now got a new management team and the service is top notch. i will now be telling all my mates to give it a go
|
Agree with other comments on the staff. Felt we were interrupting by asking for service. Unwelcome Inn. Shame 'cos the carvery was good value.
|
this pub is a nice pub bar staff are a bit slow as talking to regulars although the food is good and not too badly priced
|
in my opinion the welcome inn is a great place to relax, you have a beautiful terrace outside a big screen for footy a childrens play park n entertainment all night every night. the foods good and fairly cheap so you all that wrote those nasty comments get a life.
|
Bar serivice slow more intrested in talking than serving. Some strange staff. The good side is there is sky tv and a nice terrace to enjoy your drink. (if you ever get served!)
|
if you can't make it up the hill to the mount pleasant or the walk to the boathouse this will do fine.
|
Good range of beers, got a lovely terrave for whrn the sun shines. But on a negative side, the food is overpriced. The pub is aiming at the holidaymaker who has bigger wallets, rather than the family holiday makers
