Greene King have a planning application in to change this pub into "Hungry Horse" format. As its local advertising is for "Hungry Horse" fare anyway, why? Is it that they want to change it ito a restaurant, rather than continue to serve 'pub' customers?

Hi,

Went last Saturday for a family meal out. Only had about 25 quid in my pocket so we thought we should go somewhere cheap and local..

To be honest i like the staff and it was busy and noisey and had a good family type atmosphere but...well the food is cheap but it is also awful. My wife is sensitive to bad/old oil nad she had a sleepless night due to the oil used.
Even my little daughter couldn't face the chips....for me i was alright but the meat in my burger was dreadful quality and way,way overcooked.
I did have to smile when one of the staff came over to ask if everything was okay and i said," yeah fine" and she replied with a look of relief," oh good!"

Don't know what to say as i do like the staff and it is a fun and cheap family place to go to but the food is dreadful....

This pub does what it says on the tin. Its a Greene King pub offering food and drink at a family level. This means a simple menu and uninspiring beer (eg Greene King IPA - couldnt be any more different than a true IPA, and Abbott Ale, a good demonstration how a large brewery can ruin a decent recipe once it has its hands on it)

Its low level food aimed at people with 'simpler tastes' Good value for money and average quality.

The pub has a good patio area, ideal for the summer but did find the wasps quite invasive. Good pub to watch the football in as they have big screens inside and out. This pub will be my choice for the World Cup 2010.

I am a bit biased when it comes to the Anchor as it was my regular about 6 years ago when I didnt mind drinking Fosters and I'm always made welcome when I return despite hardly ever going there these days.

Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for simple pub grub and don't want to spend a fortune. Its a large enough establishment to keep away from the swearing locals watching the football and has lots of space outside for the kids to run around.

It was quiet on a late afternoon on a Monday. A pint of Greene King IPA was very enjoyable on a warm day. The pub seemed to have no life in it, probably due to too few customers for the space available.

Absolutely the worst pub I have ever been in. Went in there with my wife and 2 friends for their quiz night. After complaining that a vending machine had taken my money I was lucky to leave with my life intact. This is supposed to be a family eating pub but is populated by foulmouthed yobs. When i complained the manager was not interested in the slightest and nor were any of the barstaff who seemed to be more interested in joining in the foulmouthed conversations. I have rated this so called pub with a zero and that is generous - I wish there could be a minus rating!!!
DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

PS - The food and beer is awful as well!!!

Full of neds, townies and chavs, not to mention the pikeys. OK id you want to hook up with some slut but not the place to take anyone you actually like.
Beware of glass in the face and the treacley carpet that prevents you from leaving.
Fsamous for: being the place that George Best was most recently beaten up in (damn it you stupid pikey, the man's a national institution, dont get a downer on because he pulls your slapper!)
