This pub is a disgrace! Drug dealers sit outside during the summer and peddle their trade, and in the winter months are in and out like a yoyo. Friday and Saturday nights are always busy, more often than not a fight breaks out on the street, and the doormen are useless, standing by watching it all happen. The ladies toilets are always in a disgusting state and the one time we were about to order food we witnessed a cockroach running along the skirting board. Needless to say, we quickly walked out and have not returned.

Not impressed. You can't play pool unless you have a visa card or a mastercard - even if you have loads of cash they won't let you play - wtf is that all about? The chicken wings I had were rank, just tasted of salt. Beer is ok. Was better as the Puzzle and there are better pubs in the area...

Used to be the Greyhound, then the Puzzle, now called the Southern Belle. Is this a restaurant? There needs to be a good pub near the hospital but maybe only one, as the Old Suffolk Punch is now on a roll this place went downhill correspondingly. Not really Hammersmith, more Fulham.

Popped in after a recent visit to Craven Cottage. Good for watching the footy and beer was Ok, only annoying thing was a group of Villa fans who were eventually asked to leave.
Good for an early evening pint, not sure about a Friday/Saturday night?

The doormen are nice because they let us in. We enjoyed our friday night there, the live music was a nice suprise and the drinks are reasonably priced. My friends and I will definately go there again. The bartender seemed clueless, but it looked like it was his first night. We will forgive him because he was cute.(Toliets need a bit of a cleaning though and there was no hot water)

The '' PUZZLE '' now has a new manager and sounds like he's going to turn this place around . . for the better we hope. Went here for new years eve party, not many patrons . . about 150 plus . . and what a good night the band was pumping and a DJ as well and all in all a great atmosphere and if this sort of thing happens on a regular basis , it will be a good resurrection for this venue. Looking forward to the changes . . Leon.

An awful pub. The staff can be rude, incompetent, or have no idea about serving customers in a welcoming and fair manner. The beer is often appalling, yet the staff do not seem to have been trained to spot a bad pint. Even when empty the food takes ages to appear and the toilets are often in a bad state. I've given it a rating of one because its local to my work, but this pub has only ever been consistent in one area and that is making every visit an unpleasant experience. If I had two wishes, one would be for this piss-poor excuse of a pub to close, and the other would be to work closer to The Salutation, up the road in Hammersmith.

First visit....and last. Once passed the ape like ex cons on the door, the pub itself isnt that badly laid out. The beer though is beyond horrible. The Tellys about a million decibels too high. The toilets awfull.Didn't try the food and never will. The Greyhound was great. This is yet another bar that caters for the soccer set. Dull, lifeless and boring.

Watched one of the recent England world cup games here; interesting mix of suits and guys with painted faces who ducked out at half time for a spiff. Plenty of screens and a good atmosphere...may have to go back to see what it's like on a "normal" night.

Scratch and Jane are gigging here on the 2nd July, so come and see the Kiwis.
|
i have recently just visited here as our band ''UNSAFE PASSAGE '' KIWI band, are gigging here on the 15th July, and are looking forward to the gig. Spoke with the manager Keppal? seems like a nice guy, I have also spoken with the assistant manager . . Nicky? hell of a nice person and we had a chat about the place and this place can cetainly rock with the right bands gigging here. Summer is coming and the sunday sessions are the way to go . . . can't wait . . . be sure to come and see us . . cha bros!

Watched Everton to lose to some Eastern European side whilst a Crowded House tribute band serenaded me. If Hell is other people you'd meet them for a drink in the Puzzle. Rarely clean, often filthy, the food is woeful and the beer something of hit and miss affair. It is quite good for watching a big match, as there aren't a lot of pubs nearby which show the football. Regarding someone's comment about the lack of nurses, I'm assume its because they have some concept of hygiene.

Was a great a pub. Unfortunately shit happens, new management loses the plot. The Muttz Knuttz are far too heavy for his venue 'he exclaims'. Yer the drummer and bassist are big guys and the guitarist has the biggest and most heavy weight knob in the world, but dont this personally on these guys. At least Puzzle, Earlsfield has sense with management past and present continuing with the fun packed boyz.
|
It's about time you started to play the Rugby games again!!! We were beginning to think that the live sports days at the Puzzle were over, you have regained our faith with an awsome day at the lions game last week, and to top it all off......the Kiwis kicked ass. The new management really are switched on, the pub is the cleanest I have seen it and the staff actually talk to you and get you served promptly. Thanks again to the Puzzle crew.

What a night out, live music and cheap snakies. This pub rocks and so does the band QWUICKSAND. I'll be back at the Puzzle next week

I've gotta say that this was my local weekend party bar last year until the pub lost it's atmosphere and great live bands. We all stayed away because of that but recently heard that the pub is under new management, so we decided to give it another chance. I am glad we did, we were there on Saturday night and had great night. It looks like they now have all the best bands back and the service was just as good. Thanks to the Puzzle and staff for great, fun night.

Used to be The Greyhound, best pub rock venue ever. Crap now though.
|
well well well, this was an excellent pub untuil 2 months ago, there was a time where fri and sat would be rammed with ppl of all sexes but now it is the largest empty pub in the area! the shame, next door to a hospital and not a nurse in sight, seems like the new manager has got rid of the best bands(Muts nuts) and kept all the shite oh well i'm off to Earlsfield!! that still has the atmosphere of a real Puzzle!

Recently the Puzzle stopped their quiz night. But when we were in there for a few quiet beers on Monday night we were suprised to see that the quiz was back on. We entered but the other dummies with me contributed to us losing. It was great fun and a good laugh.

Ahh the Puzzle! Best pub in the area, there is a brand new Chef who is a master in the kitchen and a new Pub Manager getting things back on track! The Puzzle is huge on a Thurs/Fri/Sat night! Live acoustic duo on Thurs, bands on Fri & Sat, Quiz on Monday nights!

FANTASTIC NIGHT LAST NITE. THE MUTTZ KNUTZZ F..KING ROCKED THE HOUSE. A BAND WITH ATTITUDE. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN

It says in this listing that the pub has a quiz on Tuesdays - that's no longer true. The Puzzle used to have the best pub quiz in London; now the quiz has moved down the road, so I go there instead.

decent place. crap live band last night when i went. absolutely NO ventilation, the windows were literally dripping with water because of the humidity. drinks are reasonable. BOUNCERS ARE ABSOLUTE IDIOTS. EXTREMELY PUSHY AT THE END OF THE NIGHT. THEY WANT YOU OUT THE MOMENT THEY CANT SELL YOU DRINKS ANY LONGER. Hot Girl Rating: 7/10

The Pub is fabulous, decent food, friendly staff, a great place to meet up with my friends to have a girls night out.

Here is a great place for late night ornithology. Right next to Charing Cross Hospital. The bouncers can be a bit aggressive at the end of the night though.

Very good pub.....Unlike other pubs the cover bands are pretty good. Very good looking birds there :)

This used to be the Greyhound. Bob Marley played there. Then it was a comedy club (was it ever the Globe, btw?). Now it's called the Puzzle 'cos it's a puzzle what it is. Not a pub, for a start.

Decent chain pub, big inside, gets noisy due to all the wood floors etc. Plenty of TVs and two big screens for sports. Band on Friday nights playing standard rock covers, late license Friday (and Sat?) Frequented by staff from Charring Cross Hospital.

The staff are so friendly - there's table football, great bands on a Friday, and you are guaranteed to meet some fun people
