Considering this is a 'housing-estate' pub in Crawley I was really pleasantly suprised. The building it is housed in is an attractive old farmhouse, the interior is pleasantly laid out and comfortable. The bar staff were ok if not overtly friendly. They also had three Sussex brews on, which was very encouraging; Harveys of course, but also Arundel Old Ale, which I had a pint of and it was very good, and Franklins Mild. I didn't eat there so can't comment on the food, but overall it is a place I would re-visit with no problem.

Well credit where credits due, the actual service has really improved and there doesn't seem to be as many out of control kids!
Plus there are some really fit staff working there! Both boys and, if you're inclined that way, girls as well;-)

Again, the problem with this pub is it can't cope with a busy Sunday lunchtime and either doesn't want to or can't be bothered to control the children! It's like a crche at times. If you want a quiet lunch...without a screaming accompaniment then AVOID this place until the staff start enforcing basic pub rules!

Met a friend here for lunch. I was so glad it wasn't half term as it was bad enough getting around the mothers with buggies in the restaurant. There are signs asking parents to keep their children under control but you can't stop young babies screaming whilst you are downing your wine I guess. All that being said I would go back as the staff were nice and the food was good. Very reasonable prices and I picked up a diamond card, which gives a discount to those over 50. With a little cooperation from young parents this could be a great place to go.

Lovely food and good service. However, kids running about everywhere, often loitering at the bar! No local real ales, says free house, but obviously not.

This is a great pub, reasonable food... Though the actual consistency is a bit hit and miss on the food front! Agree with several others, some of the staff need a course on customer service... One of them, I think he's the assistant manager... Is SO miserable! He obviously hates his job and it shows. You're lucky to get a grunt out of him , there's a couple of young lads n lasses and an older lady who works there and are great! But the owner n ass manager, please find a job that you actually enjoy doing!
Being on an estate there are lots of kids... But a few of the parents don't seem to have any control over them!! A few Sundays there were kids running riot, no one seemed to care. Kids as young as 10 at the bar and a young lad, maybe 4 or 5 playing on a gaming machine...both could get the landlords license revoked!
Nice enough pub, but needs a change of management, they're ruining it!

The Frogshole farm since the refurbishment seems to have missed the point. It is located in Maidenbower which is largely a family estate yet they are very anti children. The current manager's capability to run a frienldy establishment is questionable and the service is not any better. He stands at the top of the garden with his arms folded staring at the children in disgust, if they dare to run around, kick a ball or generally have fun he swiftly steps in. Whilst I appreciate pubs are largely adult orientated the fact that most pople who frequent the Frogsole have children should give them some idea of their target market. In my opinion they should employ a manager who 1, understands his target market and 2, actually likes customers in his pub rather than making you feel like an inconvenience. For a nice friendly atmosphere, better food, better service and child frienldy you should visit the Heathy Farm which is located 2 mins drive away down the Balcome Road. Oh and the beer is cheaper too !

The pub is looking really nice since the refurb - However the service and food is really hit and miss. This is a case of sacking the manager and getting someone in place that will ensure a consistant service and product is delivered (he seems a nice guy but clearly not effective).

We visited the pub in the summer and had a very nice meal in the garden. This time we visited in more testing conditions: a very busy Sunday just before Christmas, and we had not booked a table. The staff could not have been more helpful and found us a table within minutes. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. There's a good choice of beers and a very nice atmosphere. I can't think of a better pub in Crawley. Recommended.

First impression was that it had a very 'chain' feel about it but the bar lady was friendly and welcoming and knew her ale. There were three on offer, I had Golden Arrow which was very good. Altogether, quite pleasant.

Since a fire last year, the Frogshole Farm has re-opened and is much better than it used to be. The layout is better and it has been completely refurbished to a high standard. The beers are better and food has improved considerably. It is now table service and much of the food is home cooked with a varied menue for both lunch and dinners.

This pub was unfortunately severely fire damaged early in 2007. No great loss as a pub. Hopefully a new more appropriate pub will arise from the fire damaged restoration late 2007... Food - Awful, Beer - Keggy overpriced crap, clientle - chavs, drug problem very evident, staff - rude.

The pub looks great. But very unfriendly place to visit. Should be turned back into a farm.
