Nice little pub to round off a stroll around the town and harbour. Beers were in good nick - St Austell Tribute and HSD with another (Dartmoor something??) on too. Didn't get to try food, so can't comment.

After a visit to Heligan gardens and a walk along the harbour wall we were ready for a beer and this was just the place to enjoy one and relax. This is a fabulous little pub tucked away in a side street but still in the heart of this small fishing town. Terrific atmosphere and lovely and warm and cosy! Coal fire benches and stools; local chit-chat and superb beer (my Tribute was the best I had all week and they also do HSD) We stayed for a couple of pints (and a half of the strong HSD to finish with) before heading back to Fowey on the bus. There are two bars but the little one at the front is the best with the counter tucked away round the stairhead. Large flag flooring with traditional furnishings and local-scene photographs etc. We had inteneded to try some of the other pubs in town but this was too good to leave and I would recommend it to anyone. Top notch boozer!!

Stayed in beautiful mevagissey half term week called in three times and my wife and I and our three children were given a very warm welcome.Stunning pint of tribute and excellent fish and chips which we ate in the smugglers bar

Pleasant enough. Beer good. Slightly "stiff" sort of atmosphere... middle age couples earnestly having their fish & chips and one drink. Visited on a number of occasions...nothing wrong but just nothing special...not pubby enough maybe? It is in The Good Beer Guide 2013.

Best Fish and Chips I've had for a while... Good pint of Tribute as well. Yeah, i'm an emmet, but at least Mevagissey still has what Padstow lost years ago...

Paid a couple of visits to this great little pub a few weeks back. Had a great fish and chip supper on the second visit. Beer choice is small, but well kept and my wife said her glass of wine was very good, too. Friendly locals in the bar happy to give out visitor advice to us grockles!

Called in at this lovely cosy little pub for lunch on a wet and windy day in June. The welcome was warm and friendly, lunch was excellent and the beer was spot on.

Wonderful little pub with roaring fire in main bar and useful back room for families. Well kept Tribute. a lovely place to spend an afternoon dreaming of living in a proper Cornish fishing port.

Not a large choice of beers, but well kept. Best St Austell Tinners served throughout our visit to Cornwall. Bar is small, but in keeping with the age of the pub. Barman very friendly and knowledgable about the area. Plenty of visitors popping in to order their dinners later in the evening - particular mention made of the locally caught fish in beer batter.

Eight of us dined in the small first floor restaurant on 27 May and the food was excellent - fish pie, fish stew, steak and lamb chops followed by a strawberry mess. We will certainly go back. The St Austell's beers were fine but a limited range (two on). The bars are small so the pub has character.

Lovely old pub. Always nice and warm with a glowing fire. St Austell beers in good order...needed to be topped up though.

Enjoyed the St Austell HSD here. Friendly staff who came and wiped the table over for us as we went to sit down. Nice atmosphere.

Good beer, choice of three fairly well kept, but watch your head on the beams - and watch the screw on the saloon bar entrance door as you go in - caught my finger on it and had blood running down my finger immediately!
Bar maid a bit dull as I was clearly not a local!

Not a great choice of beer but excellent food and dog friendly downstairs. Could use more seating and less smoke. One of the regular "women" is very loud and very pompous. Everybody has to hear what she is saying. Landlord please shut her up. They do an excellent curry night. I think it's a Thursday or Friday.

Nice and unspoilt. The beer was in good condition. Will pop in again if in the area.

I have been using this pub for years just like Father and Grandfather before me. What used to be a good pub is now a mediocre youth club.
The only saving grace is that the beer is kept well. Maybe the forthcoming smoking ban will see an improvement in clientele.

Looks good from the outside, but unless you are a serious smoker, don't bother going in. We entered via the front and managed to find the side door through the dense smoke without stopping.

Fantastic unspoilt cornish pub with the unique Morley Wescomb on piano on Fridays.
