Quite a nice place, plenty of room and very friendly and helpful staff. There's a big garden at the back for good weather. Doombar, Pride and a guest ale on. Doombar was fine, as usual. Food was a bit slow but I think we overwhelmed them a bit with 21 people to serve and not really enough staff. It was worth waiting for though, good quality and reasonably priced.

New owners here making simon look like mr happy!

Unexceptional. Not awful by any means but not really worth a trip. Two or three cask beers - which are ok but unadventurous (London Pride and Greene King IPA were available last time I was in there). Food is a tad overpriced for what it is (despite some rather fancy names...). Not especially congenial.

another pub closing down

i think the place needs to understand what it wants to be...a pub that does pub grub, or a gastro type pub. it is very confused at the moment. staff were not the friendliest. beer o.k
|
went for a sandwich and a pint. the beer was o.k and the sandwich was mediocre. 5.95 for a fishfinger sandwich, thats it no chips or anything to go with it. the real downside is the unfriendliness of the staff....and the fact they are always going outside for a quick puff....and i never saw a handwash on reentering the bar. overall a lovely pub in a beautiful village shame there are not better landlords in situ.

4 real ales on, 2 of them dark ales, Sussex Bitter and London Pride, about 3.05 per pint. Bar staff a bit scruffy and slightly off putting, but the food arrived quickly, was tasty and reasonably priced. The place lacked a bit of atmosphere but other than that a good local pub..

Superb food, one of best sunday roasts I've sampled. Nice garden with heaters. Bit pricey but worth it. Friendly service too.

Went there for the first time recently in a group for dinner. Menu is a bit dominated by fish but I think we all enjoyed our meals. Puddings are too expensive - this seems to be a trait nowadays. The service tailed off at the end so that we were desperate just to pay the bill and go.
Ale drinkers were well catered for though, with a good range (Fullers London Pride; W J KIng Summer Ale; Harveys Best; and Greene King IPA)all well kept. The 3 pint in Sussex can't be far away though.

Visited for a soup lunch 7 June, home-made and it tasted nice but please don't puree what I imagine are (initially) very good vegetables. Chopped, diced or even shredded makes a traditional home-made vegetable soup and people can see what is in it !
Toilets; how about some sort of a refurb for the gents toilets, reminds me of something from the 'sixties'.
Smokers, this place has got the problem sorted, outside canopies, heating and good seating with nice tables.
Customers; Volvo's, BMW's etc.. adorn the car park and 'Ladies do Lunch' here' but I received a friendly nod from a couple of locals at the bar.
Value for money; this soup at 4.50 a bowl is a bit pricey but the ambiance of the pub and superb garden compensate. 6/10

Nice pint and the food was pretty good too. Unfortunately the bar staff only seem interested in those sitting at the bar and the "locals" were very sneering even though we only live 5 miles away. Losers!

Nice village local, with very large garden and car park at rear, very good food, but can get quite busy. Very friendly staff, Good rooms B+B quite reasonable price for this area.
