3.8 out of 10 on this site?
Don't get it.... yes, its touristy and yes, its more catered for food - but it is exceptionally well presented, has a lovely beer garden and had three real ales on - Doom Bar, Tribute and the Purity UBU that I went for.
Worth at least 6 out of 10!

what a differance 2 1/2 years makes. Niped in whilst waiting for next door to open. Served by bar staff who smiled, then let me try a beer and finally served me a very nice pint of bishops tipple. Will make a point of a longer visit next time.

The Queen & Castle Public House has to be one of the best pubs I have ever been in. The real Ale is superb, the food delicious. All the staff are well trained and each time we come up from Devon, we make a bee line for the Q&C. Well done to the manager and staff!!!

Went here two weeks ago. New landlord, who introduced himself and is a nice fella. Hopefully his pleasant attitude will reflect on the rest of the staff...apart from one other fella that works there who is always polite and quick serving, anyway.

We thought we would have a drink after a trip round Kenilworth Castle. It is worth walking a little further as this place is not very nice.

Not the type of person to be negative about a place but well to be blunt the is nothing positive to say!

Are you sure this place has the caskmark? If it does it makes a Joke of system!

When adding my last review I made an error. I was trying to hold back on what to say. I forgot the h in shame and said same! This has to be the worst pub I have every been in. The beer was flat, I tasted of essence of viniger. In 12 years of ale drinking it was the worst pint of beer I have ever drunk. If this was the last pub on earth I would drink Tea.

Lovely location. Same about the pub and Beer!
|
Considering the location...right opposite the castle a huge disapointment ! Typical plastic Beefeater style pub/Brake Brothers menu establishment.
|
One of the worst pubs I have ever been in. Beer rancid and I had to pay to park the car, its only free parking if you order a meal. As previous reviewer said, go next door!
|
Not the same place since "Daddy Dyer" kept it. Disappointing to say the least

Alright if you've worked up a thirst dragging your mutt around the castle and you are prepared to sit in the garden but apart from that there is nothing here to keep you from going to one of the proper pubs in the town (ok, maybe the view if you are into that sort of thing).

Getting soap in your eye is a more satisfying and rewarding experience than a visit to the Queen and Castle. The beer tastes like its been rinsed through a tramp's loincloth, and the food is incinerated on the outside to preserve the ice on the inside. No atmosphere in the pub, although the garden at the back is lively in the summer. Despite its proximity, 30 yards from the castle in the lovely Little Virginia - you can never see the castle from the pub. If you still fancy it though - just save a few quid as they have also started charging for the use of the carpark.

Terrible. Once had to send back 4 pints of Wadsworths 6X before they realised they should change the barrell. Go next door instead.

Not my favourite - generally poor service and poor beer in my experience, but it does have a play area for children,. Otherwise I can't really recommend it.
