The staff here are very friendly and efficient. The food and beer were very good too, both in quality and value for money. The St Austell summer seasonal Liquid Sunshine was particularly nice. Sadly, it started raining after just a few minutes of sitting in the outdoor bit over the road, so we - and the many other people there - scarpered back into the pub rather hurriedly.

A relatively small pub with a garden across the road. It is only the bar, to the right as you go in, and the garden that is dog friendly. Unfortunately, the inside tables are quite close together, so it all feels a little cramped. As with the Polgooth Inn, I had a couple of pints of St Austell Dartmoor. Once again, it was OK, but I am not a fan of West country beers so it would be unfair of me to comment further. The food is excellent value for money. I personally think the fish and chips is slightly better than the Polgooth. The staff are efficient, helpful and very friendly. A revisit when in the area is well and truly on the agenda.

THoroughly splendid pub in a lovely village. Kim and her staff always focus on looking after the customers and never seem distracted or inattentive. Bar regulars and local people have also always made us very welcome. The range of St Austell beer cannot be faulted and the food is hearty and fresh. We return here year after year and have never been disappointed.

Walked here one wet and windy day along the coastal path a few weeks back. Pub was reasonably quiet, just a few customers having lunch, which we also did. Had a lovely plate of ham, egg and chips and a nice pint or two (can't remember what I had, but it would've been a St Austell ale, as not much else is available in the area). Food good, beer good, no complaints. One word of warning is that the pub shuts between lunchtime and evening sessions, so a late afternoon visit may prove rather disappointing. Eclectic little gift shop next door whiles away a few minutes, too.

Lunched there twice during May 2010 with a group of friends. Beers from St. Austell range (Tinners, HSD, Black Prince sampled) were in excellent condition. The landlady and staff were very cheerful, friendly and helpful. Food was well prepared too. Large garden across the road. Would certainly return when next in the area.

Excellent staff quick service, friendly and every effort to make you welcome, food outstanding and i have had a few everywhere. LHD ale is just so smooth and with any dinner this pub serves its just a beautiful experience, i have been here 3/4 times over 15 years and still a memorable pub 5 star rating!

Friendly and clean. Excellent ales. Lots of home cooking - the fish brilliantly fresh, and the Sunday roast legendary.
