Good Beer Guide 2020 Entry. Allegedly the inspiration behind the Prancing Pony Book in the Lord of the Rings.

Typical Cotswold Coaching House. Beautiful architecture.

Four or Five real ales on - Ubu Purity, North Cotswold Shagweaver, Prescott Hill Climb and TT Landlord. I went for the Landlord, which was tired and quickly lost an resemblance of life.

Also disappointing was a 45 minute wait for food in an empty pub, where the bar staff were nearly equal to the punters. However, it was very good when it came.

Overall, an underwhelming experience.

This pub has changed and all for the better. Give it a try.

Whoops - beer range has shrunk and the place was empty (on market day). Perhaps there is something happening behind the scenes?

Pub located on the hight street of the village, has a nice interior and a big beer garden.

Good selection of real ale and lager on draught, the food was very good and reasonable price.

Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Beer range has certainly improved. On my last visit there were only two real ales available and they were pretty unexciting. However, this time all the pumps were in operational and I enjoyed a pint of Timothy Taylors Best Bitter (quite a rare beer outside of their home territory - you normally see "Landlord" on sale in pubs "down south"). Can't comment on the food as I have never eaten here but the beer was OK.
It was market day but the pub wasn't as busy as I would have expected. Just as a sideline - on a busy market day why was the chip shop next door closed???

Its been 3 years since my last visit and things have improved in some ways. Decoration has been done and beer is still good. Food on the other hand is crap. I had steak and ale pie with chips that came as very very salty french fries and my wife had sausage and mash with *very* watery gravy. On the whole go for a beer but avoid the food.

Decent enough town pub, staff very friendly. We ate and drank there early evening. Food was good solid pub grub. 6 ales, all that we tried tasted fine, unfortunately all were national brands.

I decent pub with a fabulous beer garden. Service was a little slow but the range of beers/ciders was excellent. We stepped outside to get in the sun and found a concreted seating area. Having sat down we then noticed a sign pointing to another beer garden area. When we investigated we were delighted to find a brilliant, large, grassy, flowery seating area.

The beer flowed and so did the laughter.

Aside from the fact that there isn't a massive choice in Moreton-In-Marsh, I think this pub is actually pretty good.

Definitely a town pub feel and as with most pubs in Moreton can feel a bit seedy, but the locals were friendly. Up to six real ales and a welcoming landlord who I feel knows his beer. Menu looked a bit minimal with not much veggie choice, but the biggest range of beer in town. Moreton is a good place if youre after a pub crawl with a lot of variety.

Six real ales, pick of the bunch Sharp's Doom Bar. Went there on a Thursday and Friday and was quiet on both nights. Got the impression it can be a bit of a students bar, staff very helpful and friendly.

An OK pub, could do with a little decorating, Beer was good. Went in on Tuesday market day though when "all tables are for diners only" according to the menu. I didn't eat and sat down on principle as there was plenty of tables free. The outside area was in need of cleaning however.

I agree with Chrismouse - this place has seen much better days. A bland pub made worse by the barman having soap-dodger Newton Falkner on repeat on the stereo. Not even the whole album, just the 2 or 3 songs (you know, the Massive Attack cover, the Jack Johnson style paint-by-numbers effort, and "the hit"). I suspect the barman (who looked like he'd been up all night playing Dungeons and Dragons) kept skipping back and playing them over and over because he like them, with total disregard to the cringing customers (we were the only ones there).

I was hoping for a cider, but it was off, so I went for some CAMRA endorsed Vanilla Bumble Beer in bottle that was flat and awful. Couldn't get out of the place quick enough.

In a word its Tired looking.
Lacking atmos, the staff are all miserable with long faces and not even a thank you as you leave. (and that when the pub is empty). The decor is in desperate need of updating or at least painting. The seats look tired and grubby. Beer selection can be good with Local and Cornish ale on tap along with a couple of Ciders.
The outside court yard area and rear garden seating are failing apart. which i suppose matches the pub itself.
To sum up, It needs to keep traditional but have a more friendly/warm welcome.

In Moreton for a few days to clebrate New Year, and called in a few times while here. Real Ale was OK with regulars and one or two guests coming on.

Had a couple of okay visists here. Nothing wrong with the place but nothing stands out. Decent pint of Tribute. Punters at the bar seem comfortable talking about anything.
