A St Austell pub.
Currently closed, awaiting a new Landlord to be appointed by the brewery.

After our walk (The Hall Walk) we needed a beer and headed straight for The Russell Inn. Very, very good pub which was warm (real fire) friendly and very comfortable. St.Austell ales in good condition so I had another pint! They do food but we didn't eat here although I think we would not have been disappointed in any way (like many customers do we watched other people's food being served and agreed it looked good - so perhaps next time?). Anyway this is a fine little pub which is very clean, tidy and enjoyable (scatter cushions on the chairs and benches which was nice!) There is a pool table at the back and they open early - presumably for breakfasts? The ferry is just down the hill (about 3 minute walk if that) and the bus stops very close by. Well worth a visit.

Simon & Emma have left the Russell inn and have moved 10 yards down the road to the Lugger inn. We would like to thank everyone for their kind comments over the last 4 & a bit years & would love to welcome you to our new venture.

Decent pub that served a good pint of Proper Job. Cosy interior with a friendly landlady behind the bar. There were a couple of groups dining who seemed to enjoy the food, which judging by the below comments is held in high regard.

What a pub! We stayed in Polruan for new years and had the best time ever. Not only do they do excellent food and serve well kept beer (the only pub in the area to offer St austell's seasonal beer raisins to be cheerfull) but they also throw the best new years party with the climax being the funniest fireworks display anywhere.Friendly staff and a very warm atmosphere highly recomended.

I also chose this pub on the basis of BITE reviews and was not dissapointed. I like the St Austell Tribute and they keep a good pint at the Russell and the lager and Cornish Rattler were also well kept according to my wife. The staff were friendly and the food was very good so all in all a cracking pub.

My preferred venue of the Polruan duo. A forward thinking landlord who also maintains a very hospitable atmosphere.
They look after the ale well, and they were the only pub in the area that had St Austell Trelawney on when I visited last week. I've never eaten there, but the menu looks pretty interesting.

Chose this pub on basis of previous BITE reviews. Good beer, friendly staff, nice wine too and gorgeous fish and chips! The singing late on Friday night certainly added to the experience.

A much nicer pub than the 'other one' in Polruan. Nicer atmosphere, nicer food, and nicer landlord! My Husband is black, and I got a distinct feeling of prejudice in 'the other one' We felt welcome and relaxed in the Russel. Lovely scampi and chips. Huge pieces of scampi, and lots of them. DEFINITELY the better of the 2 pubs in Polruan.

Lovely place. Chatty barstaff. Perfect beer.

Decent pub tucked away just round the corner from the quay. Friendly barman and a cosy looking interior, although we chose to sit on one of the very few tables in the lane at the front of the pub. Not much in the way of a view, but it was a warm day and nice to be outside. Three St. Austell's beers on tap, plus Cornish Rattler cider.
|
The recent new owners have improved the food hugely..THIS would be the choice for a meal in Polruan...reasonably priced too...manages to balance the tourists with amused locals who tend to congregate in the lane outside...don't be put off as the interior and staff are welcoming...Dartmoor on draught but not a terribly inspiring pint for a small brewery, especially one which claims to be an IPA, as well as the usual St Austell offerings.

nice for a quick drink when we got off the ferry from fowey. Didn't try the food it looked a bit gastro for me

We love this pub. Some say that there are two pubs in Polruan but we know that there is only one.
|
This pub has recently changed hands & i must say what an improvement. The menu now is realisticly priced with a good selection & the beer is very well kept, all in all a very friendly & warm local Cornish pub
|
Nice beer but couldn't beleive the price of some of the food, 7 quid for a jacket pot and beans!
|
A friendly pub with a good menu. The polruan pub crawl between here and the Lugger is a must. The quiz night is also good for an evening out as it is not too serious and they welcome visitors.

GOOD BEER VERY FRIENDLY BUT THE FOOD WAS THE PITS
