Lovely old pub... we stopped for a pint after a beach day at Benllech. Conneally bitter was lovely (brewed by Conwy brewery I think). Not cheap, but in this location it's never gonna be...

Beautiful old whitewashed buildings - several knocked together to form the pub.
Bar to the left, completely unused, with a sign directing you to the right. Very narrow bar with seats blocking access but once fighting through, service was swift.

All was going well until i got the bill for the pint (£4.40 - OK, I can live with that) but the three cokes - where 8 of the 16 ounces was ice - was a rip off at £3.05 each.
This is more than a pint in my local.
My incredulity soon got other talking and I had ten minutes of sharing horror stories. The girls charged £7.95 for a glass of cava, probably had the worst battle scars.
So, not sure what to say - great looking pub, fine pint, felt utterley ripped off by the experience.

The Ship Inn at Red Wharf Bay was our favourite pub during our visit to Anglesey. It enjoys a fine location overlooking a bay, with plenty of small boats to admire. Most people were sat outside enjoying the views. But there are a few different rooms indoors, all with lots of character. 3 ales were on - Timothy Taylor Landlord, Conwy Kenneally's Bitter & Facers Bulkeley Bitter. I believe the Kenneally's are the family that have owned this place for years. I'm not sure what the Bulkeley refers to. But we did later see a Bulkeley Hotel in Beaumaris. The Ship is well worth the detour off the main road. The beer choice isn't too bad. But the views are definitely worth it.

Visited this pub at the weekend, a very lovely looking and warm pub... the ale was Green King usual with one guest ale from Conway (Rampart) which was in good order. We ordered some food (sandwiches and chips) which arrived really quickly.... kind of took of us by suprise... The pub was busy and set in a lovely location looking out over the bay. The staff were friendly and helpful and let us have our dogs in which is a big plus for me.... well worth a visit if your in the area.

Spent a week in Anglesey and this was far and away the least pleasant pub we entered- Serving and bar staff were extremely short tempered and sullen....We'd been for a walk along the beach enjoying the late summer sun and I've never been made to feel so unwelcome- it was mid afternoon, the place was quiet at the very end of a season so you'd think the
The prices are honestly ridiculous. �3.35 for a bowl of chips (which the menu instructs in rather draconian bold script "CANNOT BE ORDERED SEPERATELY") which, when they arrived, comprised of a sum total of 7 chips....Food cost? Maybe 10pence at a push- so that's a neat �3.25 profit.
I've given them 4 as the food was (suprisingly) very good and did arrive fast- but a smile costs nothing and the server treated us like plague victims throughout our visit....And let's not talk about the other customers who were loud, braying, stuck-up 'yachting' types who didn't respond to a polite 'excuse me' due to clearly being far more important than me.

Really liked the place and especially liked the fact that the area where kids could eat is as nice as the rest of the pub. Cask Tetleys and Adnams and a local ale available and seemed well kept. The food was good but consider a bill of �65 for two adults and one kids fish and chips, a couple of pints and a glass of wine? Its no different to the rest of Anglesey and I would go again, but the prices are barmy.

6 or 7 years ago this would have been worth an 8 with an additional point for its location on red wharf bay.
Now this fine old pub, a place I've know for over 30 years needs some attention. Too much emphasis is being given to overly clever food for which the prices are far too high and the pleasant bar, where once you could get a decent pint, is now more a holding area for diners.
Someone here should visit the Black Boy in Caernarfon to remind themselves how to run a successful food and ale pub.

Ridiculously expensive food and drinks but you've just got to go there. Smarmy licencee. Recent staff, young and well-meaning.Don't like table reservation at all.- puts off drinkers which it appears to be the intention. See what you think.

Wonderful location and interesting olde worlde pub. However. Expensive drinks, expensive small portioned food. Do not go if n a budget. service can be appallingly slow at busy times.

Love the place . The wife and I stroll down the beach from St Davids campsite for a couple of drinks. Stay too long then the tide comes in and we get lost going back Great pub fab food

fantastic food, great ales, friendly staff and a relaxing olde-world atmosphere. a MUST visit for any Anglesey, visitor or local.
