Visited the alma inn for the first time today and was extremely impressed. So nice to feel like I was in a pub and not my own front lounge. The food was superb and we felt extremely welcomed. Loved the somersbury cider a must for any other visitors. Good luck to Dave and Gaynor, I will definately be returning.

I've been in to eat about 4 times since the new owners came in and the food has been superb! It's also nice to have a choice between eating in the bar or in the restaurant area depending on what atmosphere you're after. Highly recommended!

Thankyou to all the staff at tha Alma, we just had a fantastic night last saturday. We called in for our tea, and can i just say it was absolutely lovely, & we ended up staying all night!!! They had a video dj on for entertainment, he was playing some classic songs but the best bit was watching all the video's that go with them! What a blast from the past that was!!!!!!!! It's a great pint of real ale ( i was drinking DOOM BAR, it reminded me of my hols in cornwall!!!) thanks again will definitely be back.

Hmmm. As a person who was around and about on the night in question (see comments from 'coupleofpublovers' below) I'll say the following: Most pub landlords take exception when people bring their own drinks into the pub. Most pub landlords take exception when people change babies on tables, leaving dirty nappies on the floor (possible cause of stomach upsets perhaps?) Most pub landlords probably take exception to quoting a price for a quiet family do, then having loads of drunken southern chavs turning up. Most pub landlords take exception to slanderous comments made by a rude, fat slapper on a publicly accessible website. I know who you are, by the way. If I was the landlord (which I'm not) I'd bar you for these comments. I walked out of the pub due to the antics of you and your party.

where do i start with the alma. i have been going in there for 4 yrs now. bringing custom from my family and friends to them with partys and general nights out. we had a party there, spend 500 on a buffet to cater 60. it wasnt worth the ammount we paid, the food was ok but then over half the guests complained of stomach pains and upset stomachs. one of these where my 11 year old sister, who was crying in pain the next day! we were then slagged of by the owners to our guests! yes very nice indeed. a family members car was stolen from the front of the pub! they sell cigerettes behind the bar and charge stupid prices for there drinks. this pub is ok,if your over 50 and fancy a quiet drink, just dont get to friendly with the people behind the bar because there so 2 faced its unbelivable !

There has been yet another change of management, but this time the couple who have taken it over are a decent local couple. They have hired a proper chef and have just started to do meals again, after a gap of a few months. They have TT Landlord and Black Sheep as permanent beers and a decent selection of lagers etc. And the Monday night quiz is still good!

the food was excellent up to a change of management earlier this year. Now it is a poor comparison to its former high standing. A Saturday night meal in summer had six other diners in the restaurant, despite this we were over one hour before we finally served the main course. One table returned their meals and then refused to pay.
It needs to improve drastically before I visit the place again.
