This is my local Friday night haunt... Used to be good until they started charging for parking! Its not as if its in the middle of town or outside a station.. Why penalise the punters for a few inconsiderate motorists?? I'll be taking my custom to the Griffin from now on..

Called in here for the first time on Monday. It does look better inside than outside. Very pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately there was no Fosters and no Becks only one ale, one lager and Guinness on at the bar. The menu looks Ok and well priced. Staff were nice.

Basically a restaurant. Has been revamped recently, although not terribly thoroughly. There was a bit of a hoohah when it re-opened and tried to limit the areas you could sit in without ordering food, but they did at least listen to feedback, and have loosened up on that.
Serves a very good pint of Timothy Taylors on a regular basis, has a variable pint of Fullers London Pride and several other beers at any one time.

I did go back and there has been a change (don't know if the management have changed or what it is, but things have improved). The beer range was more extensive than last time - there were 5 real ales available and the ones I had were in good nick at prices between 3.10 and 3.25 a pint. The staff were much more friendly and even quite chatty! However,I would suggest that it still needs monitoring so more comments please!

Hadn't been here for a long time because it was a dump. Looked in again last weekend because they have had a revamp, it's cleaner but the atmosphere is still Zilch. If you want cheap beer but aren't fussy about the quality, live nearby and want to walk to the pub then this will do,,, just. If you want good beer, good service, some atmosphere and proper bar staff then go somewhere else. Go to the New Inn or the Pack Saddle.

This large pub has just had a "makeover" by M&B who own it. It now trades as Ember Bar & Dining at The Grosvenor!! The bar areas have been opened out a bit and it is definately more geared-up for dining and boozing. However, it advertises "up to 8 real ales" but there were only 2 on when I went (fair enough it was a Monday afternoon and I was told they had been "hammered" over the weekend and the cask beer had sold out. All that wa sleft was Harviestoun Ameican Pale Ale which after one taste I asked to be put on my fish and chips! This left the St.peters Pale Ale which was nearing the end of its life on this planet but at 5.5% had enough strength to get me through a pint.I had a long chat with the manager about his beers and he told me he had been told to serve 8 but did not have the proper cellar facilities but was trying to make the best of things. The beer range was pretty good (had it been available) with ales from Timothy Taylor; Fullers; Harviestoun; St.Peters and Copper Dragon. I said I would be back again to see if things had improved and I will also check out the food offer. The pub has a huge car park front and rear outside seating areas but the locals were complaining about the noise at the front (noisy smokers??) A number 22 bus runs nearby.

Cheap beer is the only thing going for this place.

Arrived as part of group of 8 for Sunday lunch after a morning walking. Sat down and ordered drinks before man on walkie talkie alerted "Child in area 5", producing a senior member of staff to ask us to leave (or sit outside - the temperature with windchill was -5). Unaware of the child unfriendly policy, we'd made the mistake of bringing a well behaved 11 year old with us. Left our drinks and gave our custom to a more welcoming pub. Very disappointing, and child was left wondering what he'd done wrong. Will not be returning, with or without children.

Nice place, but expensice but the food was nice!! Very hot curry!!

Nice place for a quiet drink. It has always surprised me (as a dad of two), considering its location in the middle of a residential area with lots of affluent young families, that it has no facilities for children (and a sign to tell you as much). Surely it'd make a killing doing family weekend lunches. It's a massive building too, with plenty of scope for a family room/area and a bit of playground kit out the back.

I am surprised that the owners of this Pub, which is excellent, allowed their publicity to come out with the name misspelled thus Grovesnor! Not a good impression to make.

The grosvenor is too pricey but the bar staff are excellent

This pub has been recently refurbished. It has more of a wine-bar atmosphere than a traditional pub feel.
