It's a Beefeater.

As others have said, this is a pub to go to, sit in the garden and have a pint on a hot day or, if you are at the adjoining Premier Inn, to escape for a while. I use it as the last stop when walking my dog.
Over the years my experience of the food has been varied - sometimes good - sometimes poor. I looked at the menu the last time I was there and the prices for what you are about to receive seem unreasonably high.
There are the usual lagers there and there is usually a few guest ales. The bar in which they are served is quite dark, and my advice is to look carefully to see if you can see your fingers on the other side of the glass - the amount of cloudy beer I have been served is remarkable (The Doombar is particularly prone to this.) The staff, who are overworked, seem off-hand and more interested in their own social lives or who had the wine measure last, etc.
On a hot day, be prepared to wait in a queue - the bar area is small and you are lucky to find more than two staff serving as there really is not the room behind.
As has been mentioned the standard of tidiness in the garden area isn't the finest.
Yes, although you could throw a stone at the M25, the surroundings are fine - a river and a mill-race complete with ducks and large fish surround the place and there's a play area that is not too bad - the interior is well done and restored perfectly. It's all rather like being given a Ferrari and then finding that it's firing only on 4 of its cylinders and the doors won't close properly.
I wish I could give it a higher rating - it requires just a little more action from management and it could double the score.

Beefeater with a large working mill wheel right next to the bar. An attractive venue, although the bar area is small and rather lacking in atmosphere. Just one real ale was on offer - Adnams Ghostship, which tasted OK but was surprisingly fizzy. The bar staff were polite enough. Not really a pub, but better than a Harvester.

Food orientated establishment but beer of a reasonable quality. Had a couple of decent pints of Tribute here along with an Xmas meal. Generally good but some seating areas can be a little draughty if you are near the old mill equipment. Some areas have low ceilings.

Not really a drinking pub, it's a family restaurant but I'd definitely recommend it on that score. Interesting mill conversion, kids play area, pond. The burgers are absolutely fantastic. Only had Black Sheep on when I went in but was in good nick. Good place to take the kids. Located right next to the M25 but still manages to have a tranquil air about it.

Giving this place a rating of 1 is generous. For this place to carry the name of "Beefeater" is embarrassing. Staff carry a "couldn't care less attitude" you could have to queue up for upto 10 minutes for a drink as one person serves the bar (whatever time of day), the bar menu is so basic and the beer garden is just filthy. Great potential but just being run into the ground with high prices but lousy service.
|
Took the kids to sit out in the sun and see the ducks, very disappointed, everything was filthy. Fag butts and litter under the tables, dirty menus, dirty high chair, dirty cutlery and a pair of old knickers in the play ground. It was mildly interesting to walk around the grounds and see the streams, the wier and the water mill but the food and drink was poor quality and value. I was there at early doors so no excuse for not having cleaned the place up, they just don't give a monkeys.

Nice outside and inside with the mill but the food is like plastic and very few staff. If there were any they not the most friendliest! Good for a drink in the summer with the kids!
|
Awful! AWFUL! Don't go. Don't do it! The world will end! Go to MacDonalds. The food is marginally better and the staff will be more interested! AND the play area won't be full of broken glass!

Dont get fooled into thinking this is just a short walk from Bricket Wood Station as the map suggests. Its around 25 minutes walk and is located at Moor Mill Lane, a lot further down Smug Oak Lane than both Google Maps and Streetmap would have us believe. A pub of two sides really, on one it sits almost underneath the M25 Motorway whilst on the other is a picturesque river and garden scene. More a restaurant with a bar than a pub.

this is a lovely looking building with gorgeous surround(bar the m25 which is basically overhead..) very comfy and lots of families there. food isnt that awful, being a beefeater... and they areusually welcoming. doesnt desrve a rating this low as its one of the more friendly pubs around here
|
Went here yesterday lunch time. Queue for the bar was just stupid and food was not very nice at all. Very microwaved and chewy and bad choice for vegetarians - just for a change! The only nice thing abt this place was the garden and a nice park for children
|
Spent 3 weeks here in the winter... the pub is attached to the restaurant and is just across the parking lot from the hotel... so very handy. Small, dark, and only busy on New Year's and Friday nights while I was there. Good selection of beer; most of the staff was friendly; and if you choose carefully can get a good meal. No average age range.

Errr, it's a corporate chain nightmare pub with mainly microwaved freezer food. Still, it can still be quite nice sitting outside in the summer with the ducks (if you ignore the pasing lorries on the m25) and the panini I had wasn't too bad.
|
Not really a pub, just a restaurant with a bar in the middle. On a drizzly July evening it wasn't too crowded, but there were indeed kids running around, and the peaceful setting was somewhat disturbed by the traffic from the M25 a few yards away.

Visited here in the summer. It was hell.
A massive queue for the bar (which seemed to have run out of about half their limited range of drinks), and full of screaming children and their belligerent sunburned parents.
|
Has tragically been turned into a Beefeater - so look forward to cardboard tasting mass produced heated up food, soulless interior and screaming brats everywhere !
Oh well it was good while it lasted
|
This is a lovely pub with a huge beer garden which is great in the summer. However we have waited over an hour for food on more than one occassion. Also the bar is far too small and gets extremely busy when the garden is packed on a hot day.
|
Fine pub - good food at good prices. Friendly staff and no enforced tip (big plus point)
Wine is on about 100% markup which is about right (and a good choice) - great location I went in January but I bet its mobbed in summer.
and when you come out to make yourself feel good about yourself you can purchase duck food for 20p and they'll take it out of your hand (the canadian geese have a hell of a peck !!!)
Nice place - well worth a visit

A great pub with fantastic atmosphere and very child friendly. Superb surroundings with lovely river running by with ducks and swans. The service was great as was the food with very friendly staff and the price of the food was quite reasonable, but the drinks were overpriced a tad e.g a glass of shiraz 5.30,but overall this pub is well worth a visit and i would encourage anybody to try it.
