the pub has several split areas for eating with a larger dining area and several smaller areas however it has a rather small bar for the size of the place. this pub is very much a food pub first beer after they have a good range of beers on for the beer drinkers around. we stopped for a meal and as always was served with a smile and very fast the food was of brilliant quality and a good amount for both of us i got to nick a few chips off the mrs ha ha. its abit pricey however the qualitys good which counts more to me.
it has a large carpark to the side enough to fit around 40 cars and is set in a quiet area so you don't get young idiots around, the smoking area is set well away from the pub which is a brilliant idea. thumbs up for this pub

Wonderful pub! Always some good real ales on and the food is EXCELLENT! Must have been a dozen times and would definitely recommend.

Excellent pub! The food is good, and there's an amazing choice. Even my picky vegetarian friend approved. (She is also something of a food expert and can spot a frozen meal at fifty paces.) Admittedly not dirt cheap, but value for money without doubt.
There are always three or four real ales on, I've never had a bad pint and although food is the 'big deal' here there's no obligation to eat. I've often called in just for a drink and I've never had a bad pint.
I've always found the staff friendly and pretty quick. If you don't like this place I don't know what you'd make of something really crap like the... (no names, no packdrill)

i am surprised with the above reviews of this pub, i eat there all the time and am rarely dissappointed !! however i will try the cross keys in east marton and get back to you all....lol

The sort of pub in the country that people who like "country pubs" go to. Fully expect it to be in some RAC guidebook.
Nothing wrong with the place and has real ales on tap. However feels a lot more like a restaurant with a bar attached.

A fair selection of beers, Elslack ales and Black sheep to name but two..and the Blacksheep I had was drinkable tho' nowt special. I think this place caters more for the Prawn sandwich and blue rinse brigade at lunchtimes rather than the drinker. The Barman(Landlord?) wasn't very knowledgeable or helpful when I asked what beer he'd recommend.Overall nothing out of the ordinary, there are boozers like this one everywhere. Never mind eh?

Dull, bland, anonymous. Could be a pub anywhere. Acceptable beer and food. But not worth a detour. The Cross Keys at E Marton just up the road is far better value for money and time.

It is always busy and seeme to have a good reputation but we have eaten there 3 times and have been disappointed every time with the food and service. Much better local options available so we will not be going back in a hurry.

Warm, friendly atmosphere with a truly gourmet menu and excellent beers and wines.
