I will be avoiding Wadworth pubs in future. Had to send a pint back because it was off, and my partner's salad was sodden and wilting. My lunch of ham, egg and chips was godawful, frankly. The young barman was a true gent, but the manageress doesn't understand what makes a good 21st century pub experience. I suggest management visits a good pub, there are, thankfully, plenty around.

i only rate this pub as a 4 because when i ordered a pint of lager, it was served up with a 15mm head of froth. well... as they were charging an arm and a leg for the pint, i requested that it be topped up. however i was summarily informed that the staff had been trained to serve it that way (surprise, surprise!) and that was that. it was reluctantly topped up only after i persisted... honestly ... you don't need to have to counter that attitude when dropping by for a pint!

Good renovation. Friendly and cheerful staff. Have been several times and could do with a bit more variation in menu but always tasty and well served. Good atmosphere, reasonable prices.

Why is this pub only rated a 5 ? . We visited this pub on a thurs night when they were fairly busy and could not fault the beer the food or the service, best pub i have been to in a long while, just wish it was closer as i would definetly become a regular.

Have popped in here for a swift half while out cycling. Good seating outdoors. Fair beer selection. Not to keen on the refurb - too much polished pine, just personal preference - but it's all neat and tidy.

Well this is an interesting change since I last visited the area. The pub has been totally renovated and although the emphasis is on traditional pub design and activity it does offer a wide range of food. My partner and I were suitably impressed; The food was pleasant, the decor was clean and comfortable and the designers had made every effort to capture pub atmosphere from a bygone age! A separate public bar constructed with this in mind has bar games on tap including a fully functional darts board alongside a log fire. We were just getting lulled into this 1970s mood when our thoughts were shattered. The front door was pushed open and in came no less than three young couples each propelling a pushchair in front of them. Two of the occupants of these carriages were demonstrating the decibel power of lungs associated with early life. Needless to say our image was shattered. Richard Burton once summed up (in two words) why the English pub was the envy of those who tried to copy it abroad.- No Kids he said. How right he was.
