I had a donkey burger here, not been the same since, ears getting bigger and my teeth are growing !!!!!!

A Beefeater / Premier Inn and does what it says on the tin perfectly well. Beer was more than acceptable. I had the St Austell Trelawny - very enjoyable, and they had two other cask beers on as well. Burgers were fine too.
It's part of a chain so don't expect quirky individuality or surprises, but it does what it is supposed to do. Nice garden too overlooking a lake.

Apparently the change to a Beefeater has now taken place. It's a shame to see it's back to a big chain, but if it means an end to the shoddy service, low-quality food and ridiculous seating policies then it's a step forward. At least the garden will finally be able to see some use again...

Since my last review, I see that this pub has received loads of bad reviews. I wanted or know if our visit was a one time deal or what. I was happy to see some of the same staff as before, the older waitress and the american girl. They were actually the only two staff I saw there. I can see how slow it was as i was one of only three tables there on a weekday lunch. I think the menu has really expanded, including potato shells, wings, sandwiches, but also having a full dining menu available throughout the whole pub. I still can't see what everyone is moaning about. I think both the staff was very friendly, and the food was good. I can say that dining menu was quite expensive.
Well I was told they were turning into a Beefeater in Nov. So back to fast, cheap, average food. I think it's a shame, but I can see them getting really busy.

We called in here on the off chance as we where passing and feeling a bit peckish, decor average much the same as many referb`s we found it not very warm and inviting, must say garden is a lovely setting as already said.We all found the menu typical of a chain restaurant nothing to write home about also on the expensive side.Larger was resonable beer average soft drinks poor range, service slow in fact poor. Not being able to eat out on the lawn is plain daft but health and safty and all that rubbish. I think Guildforddrinker is possibly spot on about some of the comments comming from the staff as it seams this is the only place they write about..mmmmm

great pub good food nothing more to say besides get real and move on to everyone who wants a 2 happy meal

I Do not understand many of the negative comments on this post . Clearly many people do not like change but we loved it. Yes the food was a bit pricy but it was very tasy. The staff provided some of the best service i have had in a very long time , my waiters jayne and mark were most attentive and made our meal a very enjoyable one , we felt like we had an individual service and did not feel like cattle like u do at many other places in the area. we were more than happy to dine inside when notified of the reason for not having a fall menu on the grass , it was explained to us that the food is freshly cooked from scratch and on a busy shift to serve 200 tables would be extremly difficult and lead to longer waits and poorer service with rushed food.
The food is good if your not dare i say to common for it.
the decor is wonderful
the staff are ready for the ritz
perhaps many people in this post had pre-expectations of the place which clouded their judgment of the high quality establishment that we will be returning to
|
Had lunch there today, I think it's pretty good, the only other place that comes close in the area is The White Hart at Pirbright.

Staff have got at the comments again i see

Wow what a transformation from Out n Out. Finally real food. We had the Chefs special Pork Belly and an asian Duck. Just amazing!! I hope they don't change back. I found the service very friendly, the time it took for our meals to come was a little long but as the waiter explained nothing is pre prepared it's cooked from scratch. We finished off by taking our bottle of wine down to the pond. We will definitely be back.

I also went to Worplesdon Place on Fathers Day. we had a private function in the back room. There were 25 of us and the food was just brilliant. I have never been to a function that served the quality of food we had. the service from our waitress Jayne and Gen was brilliant. I actually was having a drink next to the Chicken Goujon eaters. If you don't like it don't waste space by eating Kids meals on a very busy day. go to Mcdonalds

My family and I went today for Fathers Day. It was a disaster. The staff are idiots... wandering around table to table as they have forgotten who ordered what. The menu was expensive, and the choice was terrible. We ended up ordering 4 kids chicken goujons, as nothing else took our fancy!! When it came, the chicken was dry and stringy, the chips swimming in fat, and I was just about to eat my salad, when I was horrified to find mud all over it!! We complained, and got the answer 'it has been washed' - no way had those salad leaves been washed! They gave us 2 meals free, but that still didn't make up for the poor service and even poorer food. My dad was very disappointed as it was a fathers day treat. I heard many others complain, and just as we left the table next to us cancelled their meal as they had been waiting far too long. This place used to be high standard... we will NOT be returning again now!! Stay away from this joke of a place.

Large group of us went there for lunch today in the hope that things might have changed since last time. They have, but unfortunately it's not for the better. The ludicrous split-menu policy remains in place, apparently because if it wasn't then they'd have 400 people descending on the beer garden wanting real food, which is beyond their capabilities. As a result, the decking area was crammed with people ordering food, while one of the most beautiful pub gardens for miles around was criminally empty and unused. Our food took over forty-five minutes to be delivered to the wrong table, during which time people who'd arrived a long time after us received their food. I can understand the defence that "it depends on what sort of food you ordered" but for a chicken sandwich? When the food finally turned up it was shockingly bad. Manky, greasy chips that were undercooked in the middle, crusty peas, and as I said to the manager as I was receiving my refund "I don't know what you did to that fish, but it probably didn't deserve it." You'd think with an experience like that there might have been some hint at an apology, but instead we received passive-aggressive excuses. I think they need to realise that "fresh" does not necessarily mean "good". An absolutely criminal waste of a beautiful pub, but until there's a major overhaul in management and attitude they won't be getting another second chance from us. This place was better when it was the Out & Out - a very pedestrian menu, but at least it was good value for money and service was competent.

Not very good i must say nice setting the rest is negative im afraid.

This place has lost its way.Food average but price`s not (too expensive by far),service poor and the wait for food is very bad. So it gets a no from us.
|
As always a beautiful garden and building, but was desperately in need of renovation which Whitbread has finally recognised. Love the decor and service is great. Food is trying too hard to be something it's not, (didn't like being served food on a wooden chopping board with other people's knife marks on it to be honest). Great to go for a drink but is it a pub, is it a restaurant, who knows? If you need to ask a question or have a complaint, look for a waiter or waitress who knows what they're doing. Not too keen on management attitude.

Wonderful pub and garden, respectable beer, but the food has really gone downhill. The menu has shrunk dramatically since the recent refurb and the quality of the food seems to have decreased. Worse, there seems to be some ludicrous segregation between sandwiches and 'proper' meals - the former can only be eaten on the benches on the grass outside, whereas the latter can only be eaten inside or on the benches on the *decking* outside. The staff seemed as bewildered by this as we were, but it makes the place a complete non-starter for a group of people wanting different standards of food.

Very nicely redecorated and also keeping the lovely panneled middle eating area. food was more pricier than previously and the selection seemed less but the quality and presentation was superb. the new beers are a joy too (Addlestones cider) Always felt the place was let down by the low life smoking types that used to frequent, gladly this has been addressed by bringing in the no smoking policy early! To me this is an open door for many more enjoyable visits. Try it for your self.

I found the range of drinks good, the food is not traditional pub food far more a picture on the plate job(restaurantish) and it is on the expensive side and you have to wait an age.So it will be sometime before we call again.
|
beautiful pub and garden. food is a moderatly expensive and a longer wait than normal, but worth it to get fresh cooked food. great menu selection of traditional pub dishes. highly recommend, but not very children freindly.

Great refurb! Excellent spirit selection (malt whiskeys, gins etc.) and home cooked food. It is pricey, but the food quality is worth it! Wonderful service. Good beer selection, Surrey Bitter, great local beer! Good specials. Negative: Non-Smoking, still closes at 11.
|
Since its changed it has gone down hill. All the food looks microwaved and when i recieved my chips there was a huge black hair (i have blonde hair) It put me off for life.

They have just spent alot of money on this place & from the look of the new menu and prices want it back sooner rather than later.Menu not to my taste, but we did order as we were here.I would rather have good home cooked food than a picture on a plate, this is our last visit till they change back again for the better.

Nice beer garden in summer with ducks and a pond - large amount of outdoor seating. It's a bit chainy and can be very expensive. Duck breast cost 14 quid and was a very small portion. Best bet is to go for the 2/3 course special offers avaiable mid week (not well advertised - ask at bar) and weekends - Sunday roast with starter and pud is good value. Usually one real ale on....overall.... nice in Summer but food quite pricey - go for the offers.

This is a child friendly pub. The very large beer garden has an mini adventure playground at one end so it is great for sitting outside and watching the kids play whilst eating, drinking, and chatting with your friends. No ball games though! Recommended for parents with young kids. Note: there is a deep lake there too so you need to keep a eye on where your child is!

The Worplesdon Palace. Lovely little pub for those lazy summer sunday afternoons. Service can be slow when it gets busy, but worth the wait to enjoy the lovely gardens. Now has a hotel next door so handy to stay over if you have one too many.
Restaurant food is corporate standard and reasonably priced. Not a gastropub!

Chain pub yes, but a really nice one. Lot's of room and a good range of drinks, both bottled and draught. Atmosphere is very chilled and in summer the large grounds mean that you can always find some space at a table somewhere. Bar food is good quality at a reasonable price but there is a restaurant too serving high quality food at a higher price.
Big favourite.

A corporate pub, part of the Out & Out chain so not everyone's cup of tea. Quiet and relaxing on the inside, with a huge beer garden with dozens of tables at the rear (see image 2 above) alongside a large pond.
