George IV, Baldockback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Food orientated pub with a long bar where people place convoluted orders for food - makes it difficult to get served.

Top pub in Baldock to get a good traditional english meal and a pint. Nice steak and pasta, great refurb. Nice place

Just went back for a meal and a drink and to check out the 'new' George IV Massive improvement, excellent refurb - the place looks great! More restaurant space and bigger better menu. Had an excellent meal, and good pint. Great place to get a pint and eat in Baldock.

Never mind the previous comments about the miseries, you should see the prices !!!! As I often drive past this place I haven't seen the car park full for yonks. Say no more !!!

Odd pub indeed.
Funny landlady, camp bar manager both could get a job in Royston Vasey!
Bizarre clientele, loud bald man who shouts a lot, his lurch-a-like- sidekick, two younger lads sit at the end of the bar taking the proverbial out of all and sundry, desperate housewives clique who moan continually about anything and some older pleasant chaps who enjoy their ale!
Its the most odd eclectic mix of people ever!
In a word. Strange.
Like an X-File!

This pub will always stay close to my heart. It had it all! The fireworks on bonfire night were the best in the area and used to bring in the crowds like nobody's business. The staff (if you were fortunate enough to work there) had the best times!
This is possibly the best pub I've ever been in (as a member of staff AND as a punter) due to the friendliness of the landlord and staff. The food was top notch and offered HUGE portions for your money. Slightly pricey but well worth it.
The pub can accommodate group parties, coach parties and pretty much any event possible due to it's vast piece of land and large car park. It's on the edge of a big hill (good for sledging in Winter) and is surrounded by magnificent views.
There used to be dozens of locals who'd drink there very regularly and it would extremely popular with families, especialy on a Sunday. It's such a shame it was taken over by a pair of cretins who had no idea how to run a pub. I mean, imagine barring 75% of the regulars (including their families) because they were in there TOO often and "the place needed a clearout".
Honestly, you go away for a summer and everything changes! I've got no idea what it's like now. I really hope it is doing well because it's such a great place and is the ultimate 'First Pub' location of a pub crawl to start off from because it's the highest point of Baldock (pub-wise).
Little known fact: The bar staff knew it as " George the Filth " because of the shinnanigans and general debortuary after hours!!!!

Sadly let down by some really miserable staff and some very sad food. It's only saving grace is the good fun music quiz night every first Thursday of every month. Wouldn't go there for any other reason.
