Regular Salopian beers have made the Plaza a must drink destination. Usually well kept the reputation has been building. Of late however availability has been inconsistent. It appears the beers sell too quickly and affect the sales of alternative offerings. This cannot be JDW policy?

A perfectly pleasant 'Spoons in an otherwise underachieving town for pubs. The choice was okay, the beer I tried was fine if a bit too cold and the overall experience much the same as you'd expected from JDW.

Not a bad Spoons, one of their older ones. After a period of terrible ale quality things have been much better over the last few years. There is usually a varied selection, along with the Abbot and Ruddles resident ales. Blythe Bridge Staffie is usually on as it is popular with a few of the regulars and managers Mark and Anna do try to get beers in by request. They have done well in the time they have been there, proper handled pint glasses are another of their welcome additions! They had to bring in charging for the car park as it was being abused by people working or shopping in the town and parking all day there with no intention of using the pub. The parking charge is refunded at the bar for customers. Like all Spoons the all day lot can be found there but they are normally a friendly enough bunch, as are the bar staff, Rugeley has the best staff Ive seen in any Wetherspoons, they are a great asset to the pub.
So, its a Wetherspoons, not a bad one though and worth a look if youre having a walkabout to the Vine, Albion and Red Lion.

Typical cinema type wethers',had a nice pint of Dark ale but despite not been able to drive I think the charge on car parking is a bit harsh if slighty justified with the clampdown on drinking and driving!!

I'm not going to be too critical, because I have been in worse Wetherspoons, but I have to say although the beer was ok(Tried Ruddles and Thornbridge brews),I was not keen on the layout.I'm a standy-up drinker and there are never enough ledges, shelves and high tables in any of their pubs. Most tables occupied by the usual all-day Wetherspoon type chavs.(tracky-bottoms,baseball caps, lager etc)

The Fortyniner was dinrkable just about and the place is worth a look I suppose. But once you have seen one corporate cineam refurb you've seen 'em all.. One day they may manage to make one of their places actually feel like a pub.

Now under new management and the days of dubious beer seem to be over. Usually a choice of four guests almost invariably well kept. It's great to see some pride being taken in the quality of the pint passed over the bar. The Ossett, Oakham and Blythe Beers have been exceptional.

Oh dear !! Popped back recently on Friday lunchtime and ordered Slaters Top Totty which had a vinegar nose.Took it back to the Shift manager who drew out a sample and agreed with my diagnoses.I was offered a change and went on to a Black Hole brewery Cosmic but was horrified to see that the Top Totty pump clip was not turned around. The manager was no doubt prepared to knock out the dodgy Top Totty to some poor unsuspecting punter that Friday evening session, which shows a complete disregard for ale quality.Had a pint of Lymestone Stone Cutter which was none too crisp either and noticed that most of the regulars were drinking lager, and avoiding the real ale.Huge downgrade since my last visit, avoid this drinking barn.

I was very impressed with this Wetherspoon. Got chatting to the manager who really knew his beers. The Oakham White Drwarf was sheer magic. Also another member of staff went out of his way to be helpful about selecting a pint to my taste. Nice atmosphere - not teeny or rowdy. Full marks for quality and price and ambience

Former cinema with a typical Wetherspoons fit out,the real ale range and quality was very good. Two beers from the recently opened Limestone brewery in Stone were excellent ,high marks for their golden ale named Foundation Stone.Staff friendly and the clientele was a notch up from the usual drunks who inhabit so many Wetherspoons.Clean and tidy ,definately worth a visit or two.

Leicesterbeer couldn't put it any better, building is an ex-cinema that used to be named "The picture house",building is great on 2 levels with large beer garden and upstairs beer patio, Good selection of ales at only 1.89 pint. 9/10

Nice building, helpful staff and good range of real ale.

Usual Wetherspoons clientele, drunks near the front, lads at the bar, but that's where the similarity ends. The pub is well designed, the bar staff friendly and quick, and the food is much better than the usual JD standards, at least it was the last time I visited.
