please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I had read the reviews and frankly was not really looking forward to this, but headquaterers told me were eating there on the way home so resistance was futile. Beer was Spitfire and London Pride. The Pride was just about okay, the Spitfire when changed was fine. For the ladies they do an "endless soft drink"... you get the idea you can keep refilling it.
Service at the bar was prompt and helpful - not what I had expected.
Eating in the restaraunt was okay. We had a helpful waitress but just a bit too helpful. It sort of made me think I was being set up for a healthy tip. Still, you cant complain, she was pleasant enough. Food was average, buts that Beefeater for you.
Cleanliness, pretty much okay. So in summary, I was surprised it was as okay as it was. Taking a young family there: they liked it; would I drink there every night? no, but its okay for a bit cheap grub and a pint. You can do worse (see my comments on the Castle Inn Framlingham).
6/10 I think

My review? I'll write one once I've been served! Seems it's policy here to serve people behind you in the queue before you because they've been waiting longer than you have. Very dark and dingy, even during the day. Would not recommend.

incompetent staff lost our booking for seventeen people, disinterested when asked if my order could be brought out first as I was in a hurry, when food finally arrived my order was not among them, when it finally did arrive, a medium rare chargrilled steak was more of a charcoaled steak, it was so overcooked & tough

More a gastro pub and not a very good one
|
More of a restuarant than a pub. It's very much focussed on the food side (which is your usual chain pub stuff and fairly poor)
Staff are pretty disinterested youngsters that are more interested in catching up / or arguing with each other than serving customers
|
Really poor pub. Dull and depressing, full of people either waiting to be served badly-cooked food or sitting around looking lost. The bar staff have no time for you and look like they want a career change. The manager looks about 17 and feels like it's being run by someone that age. Rubbish.

A very average pub which focuses heavily on (poor) food.
The low-lit decor inside is your average Beefeater fayre with some character in fairness. The atmosphere is ok without being anything exceptional, largely due to the fact that most people are eating.
The worst thing is the staff. Unfriendly, rude and largely unhelpful - the place is full of acne ridden teenagers who flap around and often argue with each other in front of paying customers which certainly doesn't help things along.
People seem to be resigned to the fact that Rainham has a poor reputation when it comes to pubs in so far as that they have few and are generally of poor quality so it appears they head here as a "safe bet", even though it is of a low standard.
Overall, not worth it at all. The food and atmosphere are way below average and the staff are some of the worst in the area in my humble opinion. Take a train out of Rainham and visit another town with much more strength in depth.

If you like your pubs to be at least slightly educated, then this is your best bet in Rainham at the moment. Cricketers is supposed to be having a refit for a more discerning drinker. Manor farm is cosy, quiet (in a good way). Most acceptable.

Large pub with big menu and lots of places to site, bar staff just seemed a tad unhelpful.

Manor Farm pub is ok dont like the way the restaurant goes into a pub could do with it being closed of as people eating dont want to hear or smell other peoples smoke while eating apart from that its ok bar staff seem polite.
