Now a Loch Fyne restaurant (Loch Fyne were bought out by Greene King a couple of years back). The lovely Art Deco signage at the front has been removed. A shame but given there were two GK pubs within a short walk of each other one of them was going to get the boot.

This was a great pub, such a shame it's closed

Definitely now a Loch Fyne restaurant. Greedy King seem to have lost a huge amount of trade, as this car park used to be very crowded, but now seems little used! It was quite good for food and ale five years ago.

This pub has now shut is currently in the process of being converted into a Loch Fyne restaurant.

Yet more Greedy King on the Wokingham outskirts, a boringly sad monopoly.
However, unlike the Three Frogs/Poplars/White Horse, this is an enjoyable place to sink a couple of pints; IPA, Abbot and Speckled Hen on offer today (and the Abbot was particularly good).
Pub follows the usual GK out-of-town bar resteraunt feel, however this one is a tad more upmarket and the outside seating provides a good place for a lazy beer on a summers afternoon, even if it is by the main road.
Perhaps a bit too cavernous inside to generate a particularly cosy feel, this is still a notch above a number of other offerings nearby.

Nice enough pub, but have had mixed experiences with the food. The Sunday lunch is very tasty, but mid-week the standard bar menu can be a bit disappointing. Had to send back some very leathery Confit of Duck. The meat in the Steak and Ale Pie seemed to have the consistency of pre-roasted meat, at a guess, the left overs from the Sunday lunch. I'd like to try the specials nights on Friday/Saturday as I've heard they are quite good.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good ales and first-rate food.
And a great deck area outside kept cosy by the use of massive butane heaters.
My daughter's local which is child and dog-friendly (on the decking) so ideal for Grandpa to visit.
