A great village pub with well kept ales. Several Harvey pumps and a Thatchers Heritage box on side. A good drinking spot and restaurant to right of pub, although food can be served throughout the bars. On summer Sundays, pizza can be enjoyed on the green overlooking boating lake - most enjoyable. Menu is of high quality, well sourced, offers good vegetarian options and reasonably priced. Obviously busy at peak times, so booking a table advisable. One of the few pubs in existence where just a drink can be enjoyed even during Sunday lunch. Helpful staff make it an enjoyable experience.

Nice pub in a lovely setting opposite the boating lake. Big dining room out the back but just a few tables out the front if you want to sit in the sun. Harveys beers on: Sussex best, IPA & Armada. Didn't try the Armada but the best & IPA were both fine. Food was excellent, if a bit pricey with a large & varied menu.

Came here Saturday lunchtime, for a meal in the restaurant; there were nine of us and we had nine delicious meals - everybody happy! Food was superb, staff very nice and friendly. A bit of a wait for our main courses but the pub was busy and then nine freshly-cooked dinners all came out together. Very reasonable prices too. Looking forward to going back!

Came here a couple of weeks ago with my brother. Fine establishment with good tucker and cheerful staff. Harveys served and set in a marvellous location by a lake, although mildly tainted by the not-so-distant ROAR of the M25.

Had a very good meal with Harveys Armada; three in fact, and would recommend both whatever you eat.

Best pub in the area - very decent food and great ale (it's a Harvey's owned pub). Set next to the lakes, nice to sit outside in summer of hide inside in winter.

I'm not a great fan of Harveys (I know, I know - it must be a fault in me) and this wasn't the best kept pint I've had. A bit sour.
Food at lunchtime absolutely first class, however. Bill for three 60. Nice surroundings and lovely welcoming staff.
Only gripe I have is the clientele: if you have a Pringle sweater, a personalised number plate on your Jaguar S type (like, I don't know - maybe 4 RSE) and lifetime membership of the golf club this pub will suit you. There are lots of old rich men here who will want to discuss your investments and your second home with you, endlessly and vapidly.
Personally, I like a little bit more variety, a little more authenticity and a little less braying. Shan't be returning. Pity though, as otherwise it's lovely.

Excellent Country pub my favourite Harveys direct from the barrel and a second Harveys to taste if I get adventurous. Last night - Pint of Best and a pickled egg 3.50, lovely.

I telephoned the publican at 11.30 this morning, we were going to go for lunch with our 16 y.o. disabled terrier, we would have spent around 150. Firstly when i rang the landlord obviously couldn`t haer me properly so his answer was to put the phone down. When i called back, it was obvious i was putting him out, he was rude, blunt and if this is what he is like to new customers on the telephone then i do not want to go with my family to have lunch in his pub. Shame really as the menu looked o.k. Hi loss. Martintheveg, Bromley, Kent.

What a find this pub is, excellent beer at an excellent price. I thought I had been undercharged but no, the barman was correct. Very good food menu with bar meals reasonably priced.Makes a change to go somewhere close to London and not get fleeced for a beer.

The food at this pub, whilst not being gourmet, is very good and is great value. The Harvey's beer, which is gravity poured, is sublime. If you want to drink lager go elsewhere - there are plenty of other pubs in the area which cater for such tastes.
The service is always excellent and the 'real' pub atmosphere is becoming more of a rarity and is something to be savoured by purists. So what if some of the furnishings are outdated and tatty? None of that matters and to change it would change the character and quirkiness of the pub, which attracts a loyal and eclectic clientele precisely because it is the way it is.

We love this pub! Great food (you can even get extra crackling for your roast pork!), great service, really nice atmosphere and the beers are excellent. The location is fabulous too with the green and the lake opposite. I can totally recommend this pub! If you come on a Sunday they hold a meat raffle where you can win sausages, chicken, gammon, steaks, etc. etc.

COME VISIT THE PUB AND GIVE IT ANOTHER GO ..... I'm Jane and my business partner (and chef) is Andy. We moved in on January 3rd and have already built up a good reputation for good quality, affordable food and tasty consistant beer. We are a friendly, chatty and welcoming pub. Our furniture is still a bit tatty, but we are working on that..! I suggest booking for Sunday Roasts as we have been full every week since we started. Alternatively, Monday is Steak night, Tuesday is quiz night and Wednesday is Curry night. All the food is home made by Andy and it's great. Even his roasties taste like they should - and that's a rare treat when you eat out! I'll leave it to you to come and find out for yourself.

Locals tend to grunt at you, the barman was not much better! Would not eat in here as the looks a bit grubby!

The pub is a little like the tardis in Doctor Who, as it seems much larger on the inside than the terraced cottage frontage outside would suggest. It is quite spartan in terms of furnishings, but that is as it should be, as it means the focus is on the whole range of casks lined up behind the bar of different ales from Harvey's of Lewes, which are always on tap. It's a fine venue for a long evening's drinking with friends. The food is very good, and the pub has a lovely patio at the front, which overlooks the Chipstead boating lake (which is just over the road). Very civilised, and recommended.
