Next stop for us was the Seven Stars, a very short walk down a path through a residential area from the Alexandra Arms. The Seven Stars was my favourite pub so far in Rugby. It's an Everard's pub. But, only Tiger & Original were on from the brewery. There was also Oakham JHB, Potbelly Beijing Black, Bowland Buster IPA, Brunswick Sweet Marie & Rocket, Castle Rock Black Gold & Fuzzy Duck Pheasant Plucker. Ciders were Bottle Kicking Cider Company Pineapple, Peach & Passion Fruit & Orchard Pig The Hogfather. There are a couple of rooms and a nice outdoor drinking area at the rear.

Final pub of the night in Rugby - a solid, traditional local with staff that care about their beer.
A good example of a well run pub - Castle Rock Midnight Owl in good condition.

Good solid old school boozer with main bar and a few drinking area off it. Ale was good

A new landlord of eight weeks ,he is a very keen Rugby enthusiast and gave us a big welcome. Nine handpumps with a good variety of ales,an unmissable pub,a minute through the alley from the Alexandria.

A lovely looking pub from the outside and surprisingly large within. The Seven Stars has it all, a good selection of well kept beer, friendly staff and locals and toothsome pork pies. Our small party, The Jolly Boys Drinking Soc. ended our short tour of Rugby here and, apart from one who nodded off, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. we will definitely be returning.

This was the last pub we went to on a town crawl and was arguably the best of the day. Excellent beer choice and an easy walk from the station.

This looks to have quietly assumed a position as Rugby's number one pub with its range of ales rivalling that of the Merchant's Inn and the decorations festooning the walls all very well judged. They had a pint from the Loddon brewery - a mild, as well as a cornucopia of excellent beers.

This pub has been brought back to life by a tasteful refit by Banks and Taylor , after a few years in the doldrums . With 12 hand pulls of constantly changing quality beers , it is a must visit when in town . The landlord is friendly and enthusiastic about beer ( even brews beer himself ) .

superb pints in here, well done out, by all accounts a vastly different boozer these days. Marvy pint of White Horse Guvnor 6.5% ensured a good nights kip.

Stumbled upon this at the end of a pub crawl of Rugby and was voted by the 4 card carrying members of Camra in our party, as pub of the day and also had the beer of the holiday in Edwin Taylors Stout. Enthusiastic landlord, with lots of beers to choose from, excellent pub, deserves to do well, close to the station too and the town centre.

The Seven Stars has just been bought by Everard's and has undergone an extensive refit. Now leased to Banks & Taylor's it has a very pleasant interior with a nice traditional feel. Boasting eight real ales when we visited the ale was on good form. A little quite but that apparently is what was intended with no music or TV's to spoil the atmosphere. Worth a trip but I wonder if they have really researched the local market.

I agree broadly with previous reviewer. Was touching on being a bit rough too when I went in. Handy for a quick half when one's ordered at the asian takeaway though!

Another one of the legion of Rugby pubs that could be decent but just aren't. 6 handpumps, two with clips on when I went in last...Old speckled hen and Courage. Someone else got the round in, and we ended up with the Courage...with rising bubbles, no less! What they're doing is taking an order from people in front of the pump, then going round the other side and serving the pints from the tap - "smoothflow" or whatever. So...false advertising there. If that behaviour is not illegal it should be.
Basically, kids' play area in the back and keg crap in the front. Maybe pop in to check if they ever have a decent beer on, but otherwise don't bother.
No idea why they are in the GBG, and ignore the cask marque, as usual.

A great beer drinkers pub and community local as well. A good pint and a nice atmosphere to accompany it too - does one need more? A good example of a Charles Wells Brewery allowing the tenant some leeway to take other brewers' beers to boost trade. Well done!

Came here for thier second beer fastival,a good choice of unusual beers. Friendly owners, good beer and cheep but nice bar food. Will be back again.

Enjoyed a Wells Bombardier in the sun trap of a garden at this friendly community local.

Young's Winter Warmer was very good in January 08. Nice place, around 60 seconds from the Alexandra Arms but I suspect caters for a younger clientele.
A few ales on but Winter Warmer was the only one which appealed to me, three times in fact!

A decent drinkers pub with a good if unimaginative range of beers.Very opressive before the smoking ban but now much imporoved.

An interesting back street boozer. Selection of ales is ok and the pub is quite interesting. Pub games are quite a feature.
