Visited recently and the pub was closed. They have a new website but there is no info. about opening times etc. According to Daltons Weekly it is on the market.

Visited for the first time today. What a friendly pub! Excellent food, all home-cooked - portions very large. Harveys well kept and in good condition. Part of the pub and toilets have been recently refurbished. Will definitely return.

This pub has recently been bought from Harveys so now is a freehold pub which works wonders as the new owners have really gone to town with a fantastic up market refurbishment, still keeping a traditional drinking bar for the locals, but pushing more on the restaurant side. The food is fantastic, sometimes a slight wait but this is because all the food is homemade so id much rather wait for quality. Very resonably priced for food and drink and a great team of waitresses, bar etc. Lovely atmosphere. Try it out and you will always go back!

Changed hands last year and is reportedly on the up. My only visit was at the end of a very long evening so can't remember enough to comment, except to say thet it was significantly better than our previous hostelry that night, which was the Roebuck in Laughton . . .

Delicious home cooked, nicely presented food with lots of fresh vegetables and a good choice. The interior of the pub was disappointing, quite dated and knocked about, so there was a mismatch really between environment and food.No particular comments about the bar service, but food was served cheerily,

Personal experience shows this family run country pub and its beer, hospitality and service are excellent. The food, most of which is home made, with the veg and salad being home grown, is just incredibly good. This place is so good that the not only is the anonymous comment unfactual, it borders on the offensive and was probably placed by a competitor.
