Its a very friendly and clean pub. Never had any probems with staff of punters. Dog friendly too... very decent

15 for 3 undercooked roast potatoes, 2 slices of overcooked beef and some boiled veg... Probably the worst roast dinner I've had the misfortune of paying for.
Pub quiz was pretty good though. But that's about it.

Ok looking pub but full of toffs in chinos. Avoid.

Two words: very disappointing.
I'd go with the comments below regarding clientle. Whilst the drinks selection is good though pricey (almost 10 for two standard 'pub' G&T's with Beefeater gin) the food left was more mixed.
What could have been a perfectly decent roast was marred by chewy, stringy beef (though apparently hung for 28days, strange), roasties featuring both hard lumps of underdone potato and dark patches.
The lemon posset for pudding was, for want of a better word... an abomination.
Friendly (if slightly incompetent) staff though.

Not really my kind of place - as others have noted this is a bit of haven for braying morons. I'm not a violent man, but after one smart comment too many from a Toby/Henry/Rupert as I walked past on my way home I would happily bring a bunch of Donny lads down and give them all a good slapping about with their own oars. Would have been an acceptable '5', but the clientele push it down to a '3' - avoid. Go to the Alma down the road instead, still full of posh folk but they're much nicer and more tasteful posh folk.

There is nothing louder or more unappealing than a slashed up Sloane? Excellent layout & decor, great beer, but the clientele of beered up braggards just off the train from up town make this one to avoid at certain times

Growing up three streets away I have seen this pub change through the ages, comming full circle back to a warm and convivial local...

Ok it doesn't have the charismatic grubbiness that I usually go for in a pub but I quite liked it. Inside looks much better than out. I ate in there and the food was good. They had T.E.A on one of the handpumps which you don't see in many places. The atmosphere was far less ra-ra-ra than down the road at the Alma. The staff were all polite and efficient. It's a place I'd go to eat and have a few but if I were just drinking then I'd opt for the Grapes.

pricey bar with poncey locals that are not friendly

this is a great pub - good quiz and great manager

This is a pleasant enough pub, with a good selection of beer, often including an unusual real ale or two. Food is pretty good though a bit on the pricey side. Unfortunately the place is inhabited by assorted former public schoolboys, including some Tim Nice-but-dims, some hairy rugby boys, and some foppish fathers with tarquin in a three-wheeled baby buggy (weekends only). Also contains the female equivalents.

See the Alma

Nice enough bar inside with a decent food menu. But nearly fell over when asked for 3.90 for a bottle of Magners!!!! Talk about daylight robbery and all that! Full of the usual rugger bugger lot for that area. Worth a look though.

Great local pub. Can laze around in there with the board games, papers & comfy sofas all day and get messed up. Then move onto the new curry restaurant (The Chutney - bloody good) a few doors down.
Great Sunday quiz with Andy.

This is an awefule pub. It has the usual sport on the several TVs and arragant bar staff. That and the aweful beer and food. I still cant work out why it gets packed on Friday nights.....oh yeah its the City Wallies coming up from the Station.

This is one of my two locals due mainly to its geography, as it is directly on the way home. They do serve Budvar, which is always something to recommend a place.
Great for summer recovery beers after a night out until the early hours, although one would be lucky to find a seat in amongst the Belindas and Henrys sometimes!
The food is a bit hit and miss though as is the bitters, which is a shame.

Great pub, friendly atmosphere, but unfortunately some of the lagers are not maintained well and are virtually undrinkable at the moment.

We feel very lucky to have the EH as a local. A good bite of Indian food from the bar menu, great ales on the pumps (Broadside in partic) and friendly staff. A good weekly quiz night too.

Not bad. A bit bright but a big open pub like this is never going to serve the purpose of your cosy winter boozer. Nice place to go in the summer when the doors are open. The TV'S are gladfully unintrusive. Good for: Summer evenings

The EH is an institution. It caters for a wide range of drinkers from all walks of life. Chris can swivel on his comment that the bar staff are rude - they offer polite and efficient service. A true gem.

top pub, wide range of beers, good food and interior decor to suit the monday evening kickback pint to the all-out weekend session.

a home from home, great beers, friendly staff and excellent for a session

The EH is an exceptional pub, a mecca to some. Serves an excellent pint of numbers (1664)and outstanding service.

Agree with Chris in respect of the rude staff bit, but generally love the pub. Beautiful decor inside and a lovely place to sit outside. Good range of premium strength lagers. Moreover, the place is chock full of extremely attractive girls from Battersea/Fulham. Who could ask for more? I would give it a visit.

Loud; noisy; poorly kept bitters and rude staff - sounds ideal for bottled beer drinkers

I love this pub. Had a few changes to the menu and now serve the most awesome Indian food. Good atmosphere, great staff and good on both sunny or wet days. Recommend it.

Excellent pub. Nicely done up inside and the food menu looked pretty good. But best of all Adnams Broadside on draught - not the thing 8 pint s into a pub crawl but excellent nonetheless
