Is this pub ever gonna reopen?

Every time we visit Appledore the pub is still closed saying reopening soon but it never does.

Any news anyone?

Saturday Night - Quite busy. The beer was excellent, I did a couple of Tributes before trying the Cornish Lager - which was excellent. The food is superb - I have never seen ribs like them - I think they came from a dinosaur. Friendly staff and an excellent juke box kept us entertained - so we stayed all night.

We were the only 2 customers in the rather drab dining room BUT the food was very reasonable for the prices. Bar was packed for folk night. Appears to be a very friendly place. Visit was Sept 2011.

I like this pub a lot. It is a very old fashioned and traditional looking pub inside. Sometimes this type of description seems to equate to shabby but the Coach and Horses is clean and feels fresh. The meals were not complicated, typically grilled meat with chips and salad but I thought they were good quality and reasonably priced. There were three ales from St. Austell Brewery: Tribute; Proper Job and Trelawny and they were all in great condition. The music night on Wednesday was great entertainment too.

Looked better on the outside than it was on the inside. Went in during the day and perhaps this made it seem more drab. The beer was fine but it all felt a bit tired and after one drink I was ready to move on.

If you like spontaneous music, Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons are the best sessions in this pub. It's a jam session on Wednesdays and on Sundays, a couple - Tony & Lorraine - with invited guests, host a session with a really good mix of musical styles.
The pub has recently begun serving food, basic pub grub. Never quite sure what beer is going to be on offer, but there is usually at least one cask ale available.

Found it to be the best pub as didnt sell food Just beer Although they have plans for ploughmans lunches in the future. "Proper job" job went down nicely. The couple who run the pub were very friendly The landlord looks the part too !! made our holiday to Appledore mor enjoyable. Needs a lick of paint but your going there for a pint

A dismal place on a weekend afternoon - unless you like your pubs empty but for loud drunks swearing and singing at the top of their lungs.

Great night out on Friday and Saturday with live music. Went again with girlfriend on a quieter evening but had to leave unfinished drinks on account of landlord swearing frequently and loudly. Children there too. This needs addressing - otherwise a nice pub...

Located in a back street off the main drag. The interior is a bit dull. The characters inside are less so. Country Life Golden Pig was the only real ale. No sign of the Sams Cider - only Thatchers Gold. A bit of a locals pub. But none the worse for it.

I didn't even know they did food.

Well, it's a good pub for a pint - Cousin Jack and knee-chopping Sam's Cider on our visit, all to the sounds of a very hearty folk and blues jam going on in the corner. It's a friendly, cosy pub alright - the best in Appledore. Well worth a visit.

Went in march 2009, quite tatty and tired looking inside but staff friendly enough. tried here 3 times but didn't and wouldn't eat here

The 'local'in Appledore.Friendly staff and locals, live music and sky TV in the back room, the only pub for footy in Appledore.
Good range of beers and local cider

Well, I like it. Very good service and friendly locals. One of them pointed out the ancient floortiles showing through a hole worn in the floor. Has a great atmosphere when busy of an evening. The Winkleigh-produced Sam's Cider has the power to remove my ability to speak after about five pints. No bad thing, sometimes.

First time I'd been here for a couple of years. It's changed for the worse I'm afraid. Not very welcoming and a general air of dowdiness. Cider is still OK, but the wine was awaful. No food on offer anymore. Didn't stay long and won't return.

Quackenbush is dead right about the 3-wheel prammers colonising the George.

I heard a rumour when last down in Appledore that the Coach has become a "nursery" pub for new landlords. Don't know how true that is, but I didn't recognise the bloke behind the bar. No matter, though because it's a great pub. I went in at 2pm and left at midnight! Also, there was a great blues guitarist on, a local called Jim Crawford.

Great pub hidden away behind the quay. Hasn't been colonised by the just-up-from-London-doncha-know set like the George on Irsha Street has. Often full of genial geordies from the Shipyard. Live music regularly, and a great atmosphere. Best pub in Appledore by a mile. Loads of well kept beer and cider. It's pretty small, so get there early for a seat. You won't regret it.

Excellent pub, wide choice of good beer, equally good live music, entertaining staff, locals that will talk to you and very doggy-friendly. Fantastic.

The best pub in Appledore at any time of the year. Good guest ales, log fires, intriguing regulars, live music with an occasional fabulous accordionist - where does he come from? Also a great bass player in residence!

I love the Coach and Horses. Small, friendly, frequently has live music. I always go there when I'm in Appledore.
