Nice food, but not a place to go just for a drink. Serves just Badger ales which I am not a fan of, but they are reasonably kept. Very nice, big beer garden.

Spacious, clean, civilised country pub. Enjoyed a first rate Sunday roast and delicious pint of Badger ale. All the meals were served promptly and efficiently, despite our group of 15 walkers turning up with little notice. No complaints at all.

An abysmal pub. The poor range of ales is exacerbated by the sheer unfriendliness of the staff and the inept management. On a recent visit, a few of us went for lunch, having given the pub the courtesy of pre-ordering the food, something we through would help both them and us. We turned up on time, paid up front, and were then served in 'dribs and drabs' over a period of an hour and a half. The food was ok-ish, but my lasagne bore all the hallmarks of something that had been microwaved. In short, not worth visit. Looks nice from afar, but far from nice.

Attractive exterior and impressive spacious interior. Hall & woodhouse owned. The pub was quite busy and the ale and drinks were fine......Unfortunately,in spite of the woodburner, the pub was absolutely freezing. Most people still had their coats on inside. Food is of the freezer variety but prices are ok which must be the reason why so many people are here to experience this below average pub.

i have been to this place twice in last year. 1st time it was poor 2nd time (June 2010) it was quite satisfactory. recommend the lasagne-big enough to share. FREE apples at bar newspapers to read i am sure the earlier reviews are true as we did not want to return after 1st time!

We are regulars at the Queens College Arms, Bramley. Last Tuesday we went there for a meal and I had scampi, we had our starters, everything was fine, waited over half an hour for our main meal. My scampi had obviously been put under a heat light to keep warm as it was rock hard.
I should have complained but they're didn't seem to be many staff so we just left, the consequences are, when I got home I had terrible toothache after biting into one of the scampi and today I had to have the tooth removed.
That was one expensive plate of scampi!!

If you enjoy microwave food, poor service, rude staff, this is the place to go to. Basingstoke has a number of pubs that the managers in charge are proud of this is not one of those. We asked for and paid for two puddings. A simply enough order put two puddings in the microwave, when it goes ping, take them out and serve - 12 in the till. But no, they couldnt even do that. Forty-five minutes later, we asked and were told that they have lost our order - no apologies. We will NEVER go there again.

The food is cheap and everything is still OBVIOUSLY being microwaved....the pub has quite a reputation for that now. I had the "Gourmet Burger" on the last visit and honestly would have been more impressed at McDonalds! The new manager is unfriendly, rude and snappy, but oddly for a landlord he hardly seems to be there so you may not notice. The whole atmosphere has become a desperate, conveyor-belt style service, you're in and out as quick as they can manage. The ales, however, are very nice with some good choices. Although, this isn't enough to make me want to go again and I feel strongly inclined to travel further for a better pub. This place is an embarrasment, don't go there.

We went along for a bite to eat the first time as we had a free bottle of wine voucher and were a bit disappointed with the food. It came very quickly and did not appear freshly cooked. Luckily the wine was good. The second time tonight again we had a voucher for free wine. The meal 'sausage and mash' came within minutes of ordering which in itself was suss. The food appeared to have been precooked and heated up. the sausages were tough and the gravey tasted odd. no one at anytime asked if everything was ok. I actually said to my other half that i hated the food. I will never go back even for free wine. I would never recommend this pub to anyone unfortunately.

I went to this pub about two weeks ago. There were four of us and we had three courses each, with one being a roast beef. As previous reviewers have said the food arrived within minutes of ordering and was of a very poor standard. The manager was floorwalking and was shamelessly trying to flog a new range of mini deserts and wouldn't take no for an answer. Fortunately the whole experience was over in 30 minutes. Stay away from this pub, you have been warned.

We visited the Queen's College Arms, Tadley on the afternoon of Saturday 14th March. We visited this place about year ago, although we just had beer and crisps that day. This time we ordered the "famous" smokey (aka fish pie) and I had the ribs (priced at 10.99). We ordered at the bar and, like the previous post, literally 4 minutes later the meals were on the table. Mircowave food at premium prices unfortunately - and oh dear, what a disgraceful attempt at pub grub. The ribs arrived in a soup bowl, the sauce was steaming on top but luke warm underneath. I have no doubt that these ribs had come straight out of a plastic bag - utterly tasteless and disgusting. The fish pie was a sorry looking affair and apparently didn't taste nice. The side of vegetables (an extra 2) came in a small brulee dish and had been nuked beyond recognition. At no time were we asked if the meals were okay, the staff just don't seem interested anymore. Such a shame because the beer was good - Tanglefoot and various other good quality ales. Unfortunately, despite the attractive surroundings, this place deserves to go under on this performance. Avoid it. Honestly, it really was awful.

If only I could post the photographs I took of the sunday dinner I was served at this pub. I was totally taken back by the lack of service and quality of food. Its really have gone down hill since summer 2007!!
I was extremely embarrassed as I has recommended the queens college arms to my boyfriend and said to him how nice it was with a fab menu, always busy etc etc. BUT that just was not the case.
The pub was lifeless, had scraps of food on the tables and grubby menus when i looked closer.
I ordered 2 meals and within no longer than 4 mins BOTH were at our table! 4 MINS to cook 2 large roast dinners! I think not.
Our food was just warm not hot, vegetables were dried out, turkey was fatty and potatoes soggy. A complete disappointment for near 12 each!!!
We weren't at any stage asked if everything was OK or if we needed anything. The service was horrendous for a quiet afternoon!
I went up to the bar to explain and say that i was not prepared to pay for such a meal. All the bar staff stood and stared. I left only paying for one of the meals when legally I dont have to pay anything if I feel the standard of food wasn't good enough!
It was just a complete let down which lasted all of 15mins from walking in to leaving!! Absolute disappointment guys im sorry to say!!!

Hoppinghare was excellent, food was very good too. In here on a Sat luch time and still very busy. Playground provided a distraction for the kids. Service was good too. Well recommended
|
Excellant food and beer, if not a little overpriced.
|
We came here Sunday evening with friends for meal and beer.Well up to Hall & Woodhouse standard-which is very high. Hoppinghare went down a treat so had a few pints. Food also excellent and would recommend this pub to others.Beer staff very good as well.
|
Terrible Hall and Woodhouse beer "Hofbrau" larger taste like Horse P**S and is sooo expensive Very spacious pub though.
|
Average pub, service slow, no atmosphere, but at least its warm, dry and clean. OK for meeting collegues after work.
|
I like this pub and travel 40 mins to get to it. Food has always been excellent with a freindly atmosphere. I have taken friends who agree.
|
Inoffensive sort of place, food okay, beer okay. Not a lot to say really except getting out can be a bit of a pain as the road it sits next to does have a lot of very quick traffic. There's better places but there again there's a heck of a lot worse too, so fine for a meal or quiet slurp.
|
serve a great range of hall and woodhouse (badger beer) friendly staff but beer is very expensive.
|
Chain pub. OK for a quick and average pub meal. Staff all eastern european, efficient but bored. Beer expensive. Noisey main road.
|
Went here on Tuesday lunchtime with people from work, service wasn't bad, the food arrived fairly quickly. However, part of what I ordered was missing, (warm potatos), the barmaid did get them to me pretty sharpish but they were cold, at nearly 8quid for a salad i wasn't over impressed but have been before and the food has been quite good.
|
I agree with kittenfoxy, sometimes all you do want a pint of lager that you have heard of.
|
Clean,Relaxed atmosphere, decent food which is good value for money. Never been troubled by 'waiting staff' (sit in the garden you only see them once when they bring out the food!)House wine good. Would recommend to others, and better than the average.

5 points for the food, i thought the service was a bit crap,or waiter or whatever he wants to call himself, couldnt carry plates and was a bit cocky, none of the tables outside were clean either, food was lovely though!
i know you beer expert are probably chuffed at the HB and real ales on offer, but sometimes u just want a pint of carlesberg!
also there was a massive woman in hot pants sitting with her legs open in the garden..that shoudln't be allowed surely!?
|
Allways a warm welcome and nothing to much trouble. Used the pub many times for the odd pint always a good excellent range. Reastaurant / bar food always served to a high standard. Yes the waiters can be to attentive but that is better than sitting waiting for something such as sauce and the meal goes cold. Children welcome - play area in garden.
|
Pedestrian standardised food on offer, lunch was awful, money refunded. Beer ok, staff ok to good but too attentive at tables, found a bit intrusive.
|
A good clean pub, Large bar and eating area. Good hand pulled beers and good food. The only bad point was the constant stream of waiters swanning around the tables looking out for an empty glass or plate which I found a little off putting as we tried to eat lunch. There was also a small bit of plastic in the salad which, when I told one of the many waiters, he thanked us rather than appologised. but otherwise it was o.k

Nice pub, all the Pikeys seem to drink in Sherfield.
|
Serve a great range of badger ales bottled and from the Pump.
