This is now a private house and is no longer a pub. I know because I own the building. The official and legal change of use has been granted. The White Horse passes into history. The building is being refurbished and brought back to its former glory. The pub sign will remain because I like it and I want to respect its former history and the buildings heritage. If you have any questions etc please contact me through this site.

Still closed. The pub sign is still there. But it is now a private residence.

As at June 2016 this pub is closed

The previous landlord of this pub left three weeks ago and it is now under new management. It has returned to its former self and drinkers are now welcomed back into this lovely country pub, now serving food to all and sundry and not just the 'middle class'.
The Cock is indeed still open. It was sold by the brewery and is now a free house, I'm told. I have not visited the Cock since the change but the beer was excellent during the interim period.

Presumptive reviews on this site make me laugh, especially when months later they are shown to be untrue...it's Feb 2013 and The Cock at Broom is still open...
The White Horse is now predominantly a food pub, and what's so wrong with that when the food is as good as what is on offer there? Piping hot, locally produced, home-made food and service with a smile is the name of the day here now. The menu isn't huge but the Landlord is aiming to have a small selection of well produced meals rather than a menu that tries to cater for everyone's tastes. This place is aiming for the middle class food trade from nearby towns such as Biggleswade and Bedford and it has certainly made a head start at this. I would certainly recommend this pub as a great place for both couples and groups to head if they want good food in pleasant surroundings. Worth going out of your way for.

There has been a change of landlord in this pub. Drinkers are no longer welcome, so if you want a decent pint, go elsewhere! Plough at Langford is probably the best bet as the Cock in Broom will close in November 2012 when the present landlord retires.
|
Worth noting that this pub has recently upgraded its restaurant facilities. I have yet to try them but early reports are promising.
this has probably been done out of necessity rather than expediency as this remains a proper traditional pub for drinking beer in. The landlord rightly takes great trouble and pride over the condition of his beers, which can include some surprising and unusual guest ones. Ever a favourite of mine!

Food very average, service slow, nice setting, good range of beers.

Just spent a delightful time eating an enormous great quality Sunday lunch Pork and beef combined Yorkshire Pudding/stuffing, freshly cooked cabbage, swede and carrots -with original sumptious homegrade gravy, no Bisto didn't get a look in
IPA well kept
A well managed delightful Pub

A traditional country pub with character. Food ok.
|
When we visited, it was crowded and smoky with locals watching a football match. Our sunday roasts were mediocre - the standard Brake Bros style pub grub. Service was cheerful if slightly incompetent.

This is a real old fashioned pub, which will sell you food on the quiet if you really must eat! It is small with a real inglenook fire, which chucks out plenty of heat.
It has a cosy local ambience with a good crowd of regulars. The ales are superb, the pub having won the Cask Marque in successive years. There is normally a gest ale of some sort.
Best on weekday lunchtimes, I find.

Nice beer garden, with reasonable price for food and drink, nice inside as well

Very good little country pub with a small selection of real ales including at the time of visit a St Austell ale. Cracking breakfasts also! There is a huge area out the back which is used for events.
