Great freshly prepared food- a significant cut above most pub fare in Brighton.

Beer selection is nothing special. Nice atmosphere, quite small and not too many tables so get there early or reserve one! Would be a great spot for a Sunday roast I would imagine. No outdoor space.

Last night (friday 18th December) I was driving up Guilford Road
Had to stop on very icy road, started to just slip down the hill. Could have been a nasty accident. The locals from the pub came out and salted the road, helped me get out, there must have been a dozen of them. I wish I could have thanked you all personally and the Cab driver who gave us a ride to where we were going and refused to accept payment. That's what Christmas is all about.

Proudly advertises cask ales outside but only delivers GK IPA and OSH, the latter of which was off. Was told they were in happy hour with 1 a pint off so my pint of Budvar was only 2.70!! Fosters, Krony, Strongbow, Guinness and Hoegaarden also on offer, plus a myriad of teas and coffees. I wouldn't recommend it and would struggle to call it a pub, more of a bar really. As for the reviewer below who thinks he'll get his dentist bill paid, caveat eater I think.

A little piece of the future that arrived early. sets the benchmark for pub food, conversation hubub at maximium volume is a joy and the bon viveur yorkshire host whose beaming bloodshot grin greets every punter, dont miss it.

Good puddings! Good sized portions value for money. Spare ribs - could have had a bit less and been a bit less fatty but most central dishes eg sausages, venison, steak all good. Beware the Pecan toffee apple garnish to the icecream I cracked and lost my tooth and had to spend 45 getting it repaired at the dentist - thats the temporary filling, the crown is yet to come adn I think they cost 300 - this stuff should not be legally allowed..to be fair to the pub I have yet to tell them about this and give them a chance to make it up to me! Can be too noisy with music and talking as it is now more of a restaurant than a drinkers pub..
not many other pubs rival this in Brighton for food maybe the Mashed Ton who have a good chef who runs between this pub and the Earth Moon and stars and do good burgers etc., that defy the hungriest people..and the Dorset which is always okay if you can get served/their attention as it is very busy in summer.

their high prices are no longer justified by good quality. expensive and disappointing, i'm not a fan of the new decor - a black wall sloppily painted ain't classy.

not inclined to return. the cost is just too prohibitive!

The food is simply amazing, a little pricier than most pub grub, but the standard is better than most restaurants in town. Well worth a visit!

Would have to disagree with the previously posted comments. I think this place has been ruined over the past few years by pandering to the trendy set. It lacks everything that most of the central pubs have in terms of atmosphere, choice, decor and beer. There are many far better places around. I wont be going back in a hurry.

Cracking little pub with some of the best food in Brighton (bangers and mash to die for!).

Best sunday roast in Brighton. No contest! Will be heading back to try a weekday evening meal real soon.

Lovely pub run by lovely people. Good selection of beers and wines, Budvar 4tw! Top class food, a little pricey but you gets whats you pays for; locally sourced, organic, fresh, seasonal and well prepared, presented and served! Small but personal place, great for lunch, dinner or any other occasion. Yes this is my favourite pub (for many reasons).

Nice little pub with very good food. Small, so get in there early if you want to sit down. Only thing which prevents it being excellent is the unimaginative selection of beers. Bog standard cider and lagers plus IPA and Speckled Hen.

Food is fantastic. Be nice if the management/leasees had the confidence to throw away the laminated menus and just go with their excellent specials. Shame it's owned by Greene King and you're forced to drink their bland ale. 10/10 food. 01/10 drink.

Good music, good beer, good food, good wine (apparently) for the ladieees. V. handy for the station

Usual Greene King beers with no taste.

Slightly sanitised atmosphere and certainly not a traditional old boozer - a bit too trendy for my tastes but worth going for the food which is above average.

Little gem, just up from the station. Great food from Due South fills you up. Difficult to just pop in for one!
