Has been re-vamped and joined to the Red House next door. Up to 9 real ales on.

Only 1 real ale and that required a lot of effort to serve it, however, once on it was top notch Deuchars. Food unbelievably cheap but very good. Definitely worth a visit even just to experience the vaults at the back.

I was very annoyed that bob trollops does not sell vegetarian wine, it sells wine that uses beef gelatine as a fining. hardly appropriate for a vegetarian restaurant. I asked if I could bring my own vegetarian wine in to drink with my vegetarian meal and was told that I couldn't. The problem is that patrons are not told that the wine is not vegetarian.. bad show bob trollops. Daphneeliz, 18th April. 2010

Only one beer :Speckled Hen but... well kept. Veggie food good and very reasonable. Really interesting pub

One of my favourites during my student days, the myriad of atmospheric rooms and passageways sets it apart from the cloned rubbish that constitutes the Quayside. Good food on offer at reasonable prices, and a good jukebox.
Downside? Only one real ale on- Ruddles County, at least until last year- and it's not cheap either.

Only one real ale on last Friday and the smell from the bogs shared with the Red House suggested somebody hadn't quite made it in time and freestyled. For Christ's sake, this should be a good pub. Still, if you get enough no necks to spend their ill-earned drug profits on fizzy beer, I don't suppose you're too worried. We won't be back.

Having a veggie for a wife, she was very happy to visit this pub at a quiet time (5pm on a Friday) to sample the all-too-rare extensive veggie menu. Very good and very cheap food, friendly barman, not a great ale selection (one hadpump only as mentioned elsewhere, interesting building with three seperately named pubs under one roof. Does have a lot of competition close by, but whn we walked past again much later in the evening, it was rammed to the gills.

Only one proper beer? Can this really be a pub?
|
Old pub close to bridges and Quayside, Ale nothing to write home about though
|
Last time I was here - a Friday night - the real ales were off; the beer (if you can call it that) was expensive; the place was fairly empty.

Great to sit in the back room and drink until the cows come home - or at least until closing time...

Interesting pub that seems to have about three separate bars all entering by different routes - a bit of a warren. Decent beer, friendly staff. The menu caters for just about everyone - except the carnivore.
|
Not bad if you want a beer near to the river/bridges....appears to be a lot of competition round here now.
