Probably the best pub in Blandford although it's a hotel, but the prices reflect this, although not excessively. Real ale on the handles and good food. Wedding reception was going on when we were there, opportunity to see how the other half live. Website has a pub walk over the river and through the water meadows. Will be back

Classy place, big inside.

the long wait at the bar to be served by a person who had no skills on how to deal with a customer, the worst was to come as the badger beer was the worst i have ever had.

A persoanl favourite of mine, has a lovely garden and in the summer fantastic place to bring the family. This one is definately on its way up at the moment. Lovely staff !!!! Always room for improvement but this doesnt have far to go. Fantastic food , but times are a little awkward :)

the quality of beer seems to be a bit hit and miss, the garden is nice, but agree with others about the lack of atmosphere inside!

I was in the Crown last Saturday lunch time and had a fantastic experience. The bar was nicely busy with a mixture of families, kids and adults making a lovely atmosphere. The service was efficient and friendly and I loved their fish finger sandwich! There is a new management team in this pub now and you can really tell the difference. Also the wedding party certainly seemed to be having a great time in spite of the rain as well!

I quite enjoyed it in here - the beer was fine, and the service was ok. It does lack a bit of atmosphere though
|
after waiting an age to get served, the badger beer was awful, bit of a let down for the flagship of hall and woodhouse.
|
The Pickled Partridge and Golden Best were both in good condition today - temperature seemed OK. Not the most atmospheric of bars, another unnecessary refurbishment victim.
|
Agree that the beer is badly kept - in particular it's far too cold. Unacceptable in an expensive hotel in this beer-lover's destination town.
|
Hotel nice and accommodating, staff friendly and welcoming. Food ok, beer needs a lot of attention, flat, tastless and out of condition.
|
staff uninterested had to wait ages to pay - poor choice of beers and the avacado cray fish cocktail had no avacado complained and was told we have run out- there was a veg shop nearby. they do`nt enjoy my company so will not be going back
|
Quite miss the older style cosy bar, and I have a feeling the new decor will go out of fashion quite quickly, but all in all ok. Not tried the food, as with other comments, it looks quite pricey for average food. Nice wines, and not had a problem with the service.

bad managers, bad brewery. understaffed and when complaining about food rude general managers.(someone miller). used to be a great place, ruined now
|
service was very poor, stood at the bar waited, then asked could i hang on,so looked at the menu while we waited and decided that it was overpriced ham egg and chips 9.50 what a bargain.still no service so off to the much better priced stour inn.

Thought we would lunch at the newly refurbished Crown. Have to say that the place was unrecognisable from the old. After some initial confusion about whether food was being served or not we had a very pleasant lunch in very pleasant surroundings. Hope the new management will soon come to grips with the situation and wish them the very best of luck

A large bar, quite civilised, badger beer.
