Amazing that a site burnt out so many years ago and now demolished and resurrected as a block of flats can still be listed when it comes to 'Beer in the Evening'!

This was the pub where Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt and co first performed as 'The Status Quo' [sic.] Another bit of history gone...

this sorry old building has now been demolished and is to be ressurected as a block of flats, modern times eh!!

Oh no! My parents Bill & Joan Hardy started to run this pub in the 60's and I lived there with my brother John until we moved to West Sussex in 1971. I did visit to take a 'trip down memory lane' about 10 years ago and was sad to see how much it had changed.I had a very happy childhood growing up in that pub it is such a shame to read about it's demise.

this place has been standing idle for about 8 years now,and as the last review states this lovely old building has now suffered further deterioration due to fire,I can't understand why it's been allowed to fall into such a sorry state as it used to be very busy,it's in a good location, and allways seemed to have a good vibe,I think the hungry horse half a mile up the road was the big nail in it's coffin, let's hope they can restore the place to it's former glory and it dosn't open up as another noodle bar

This pub sadly burnt down on Thursday 1st June 2006. Possible cause is arson. This used to be my local but alas it is no more.

This was boarded up and well and truly closed last time I went passed!
