I remember this pub years ago when i was a youngster in the 60' s ....also the lovely resident dog there Bonzo who used to come on his own to visit our house.......have still got a photo of him.
chardy, i gather he was your dog....very happy memories for me...we moved away to kent in 1969......

Amazing that a site burnt out so many years ago and now demolished and resurrected as a block of flats can still be listed when it comes to 'Beer in the Evening'!

This was the pub where Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt and co first performed as 'The Status Quo' [sic.] Another bit of history gone...

this sorry old building has now been demolished and is to be ressurected as a block of flats, modern times eh!!

Oh no! My parents Bill & Joan Hardy started to run this pub in the 60's and I lived there with my brother John until we moved to West Sussex in 1971. I did visit to take a 'trip down memory lane' about 10 years ago and was sad to see how much it had changed.I had a very happy childhood growing up in that pub it is such a shame to read about it's demise.
