Ah, the "UUU" what a delightful pub! The term 'gastro-pub' comes to mind, as the food is bloody good!! ('scuse my french, but expletives are sometimes called for when excellence is experienced!) As I said before, the staff @3 Horsey-hoofs are first class, you will not find better service anywhere else...!!!
There's a challenge for you! Always a pleasure venturing in the "UUU", and did I mention the New Zealand wine...exxy, but delicious! Recommend heartily. :o)

Very pleasant lunch venue with comfortable, well designed interior. Lots of capacity, but with numerous nooks and crannies. Food is of a consistently good standard and the Gales Seafarers was nicely kept.

Luvly pub! A cut above the rest. Food is very good, but you'll have to pay about 11 quid for beef burger+chips! (but they were very nice..!) Slightly older age group in here, hence the slightly higher prices, and not so popular with the young folk.
You will be hard-pushed to find better bar-staff anywhere else (...now there's a challenge for you!)
"huntforbeer" is right, the elongated car park at rear can be full at times, especially if there's a wedding or birthday party going on. (They can feed up to 100 people at a time...! takes some doing - but they do it!) But I would walk a mile to this pub, its by far THE best in the area, in my humble opinion!
If this was my local, I'd be in the "UUU" every day..!!
Hence my 9/10 rating! :o)

This place is much improved since my post of May 2010-although it is essentially a dining pub you can stand at the bar and have a drink without feeling uncomfortable.Beer usually well kept ,but a bit on the pricey side.Bar staff are friendly.
The one draw back is the car park!

Despite being one of the biggest for miles around it can sometimes be full-even in midweek early evenings and my party has on occasion had to go elsewhere!

very fancy pub for food, not really a drinkers joint, but nice enough for a meal, if you go lunchtime you'll have to try to get a seat amongst the pensioners

Nice pub. We went for Sunday lunch, got there for 12 and found a good spot to sit in the bay window at the front. The ales on tap, Landord, Ringwood Best and Doombar. We ordered the roasts which took a very long time to arrive but the wait was worth it. Not cheap at 14 quid odd. Overall the service was good - our only gripe was the restaurant was too hot, they had the thermostat on 30 degrees! Bit OTT considering it was packed out with customers. Next time come in a t-shirt and shorts!!

Went to this pub for dinner last night, had a fantastic meal. Although the pub was busy the service was good. There is a nice big garden great for summer. Will definitely be visiting agaon soon.

Good banter with the bar staff who were very good humoured despite being very busy. Good atmosphere and an imaginative menu although we didn't eat there. Nice garden. A good pub for winter or summer.

Went to The Three Horseshoes this weekend with friends. What a great pub! Decided to sit in the garden, which is well looked after. Had a jug of Pimms and a selection of food from the menu. All of which tasted great. There is also a special's board, more than enough to choose from. All the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to say hello and make us feel welcome. Will be very much going back. Wished we had visited here before as it will now turn into our local!

The refurb has left this pub soul-less-an anodine "gastro" pub with no character.
Visited last night an we were promptly served with hand pulled beers from the selection of three.
Getting a second pint was the problem.Despite my son holding up a ten pound note the barmaid managed to serve a bloke who had just walked up for a lemonade and to pay a credit card tab-not serving waiting customers in the correct order is the cardinal sin so far as we are concerned-and no mean feat when there are only two people waiting!
The problem was compounded when the three barmaids could not work the till and ignored the waiting customers (us) whilst they attempted to fix it.
We left the pub thirsty and shall take some convincing to return despite the fact that we only live a mile away.

Wonderful pub! Well done to the new management. Luvvit! Can't get enough of it..! BEST PUB in Ashford/Laleham/Staines BY FAR..! I just wish it was my local !!
Some Friday/Sat evenings, if there's more than 2 of you, you may find it hard to find a seat (unless you've booked in the restaurant area). Love 'the Snook' area at the front of the pub, great for 'small' gatherings. Luv their New Zealand wine "Wairau River", try it, u might like it !

Back in the day (late 80s, early 90s), the Shoes was THE place to be on a Friday or Saturday night and definitely on New Year's Eve. It then went through a series of reinventions. At it's worst, it was a dead local hole in the evenings and an alternative for older people to Notcutts' cafe for during the day. The recently refurbed and reopened Shoes is a joy - bang up to date decor, great atmosphere - lively, but not too loud so that you can't hear your mates, really good service and a wonderful menu - fish and chips for traditionalists and a coulis/jus or two for the gastromaniacs. Lovely garden and restaurant (bookable) area, too. Enjoy :-)

This pub has recently been sold, refurbished and reopened. It is now very good, has great food, lots of character and the staff are all very happy and friendly, well worth trying

A friend of mine has just sent me a newspaper cutting of the fact that this pub has recently been fined 24,000 for breaches of Health rules.Thats unfortunate because the food was good when we ate here a few weeks ago. The guys behind the bar were quite miserable and had a certain shabiness about them. The pub was quite empty but had a certain charm about the place. With better lighting, and bright cheerful staff it would lift it.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the shoes,i have been many times before and enjoyed it equally.
The guy from the feathers is a joy to be served ny.he is always happy and jolly.Barstaff are as a whole are pleasent but the american boy can do with a little manners aside from that the food was exceptional and service was great i will come back.

i visit the pub/restaurant on a regular basis and find it to be nicely layed out and very traditional in it's style.food is very good and pricing vary on different dishes. The weekend just gone the staff wheren't up to normal standard as tables had plates and glasses left on them for sometime which made things look untidy.I would suggest the manager review his team and find out why they failed this weekend.Otherwise the three horseshoes is a good pub to relax and enjoy a nice pint or a social place to meet people.

While visiting this pub we found the staff very friendly and the food was superb

Ate here on Sunday 13/07/08. Young waitress very friendly and attentive. Sadly there was a shift change during the meal and subsequently I've had friendlier service from a traffic warden. The food is very average and the chef is out of touch with what the customer is paying. I had a Chateaubriand Steak @ 16.95. The presentation was non existent, the garnish of chips, tomatoes and mushrooms was nothing more, nothing less. The steak was lying on top as though it had been dished up in a works canteen, nor was it anything like rare, as asked for. Mustards and sauces were a pile of sachets deposited in the middle of the table. Desert was Chocolate Fudge Cake which was no more than a cold wedge of Black Forest Gateau and cold custard. In all I'd say hunt around because I'm sure better presentation and a more pleasant service is available for the same cost elswhere. If the management read this I would strongly suggest you take note.

My second visit to this pub (in 2 years) was last Friday evening for a 'pre-Tesco shopping' pint and meal. Fairly quiet for a Friday evening but pleasant service and clientele. Had an excellent pint of Courage Best, but also a superb steak & kidney pie, mash & veg. This is often my fall back choice in pubs and I don't expect anything special but this one was remarkable. Quality ingredients and everything cooked to perfection. My girlfriend's Nicoise salad was also excellent. V good value too.

Good location with plenty of parking. First visit for many years. Pleasant, trendy decor and helpful staff. Varied menu with good specials board. Lunch-time so wasn't drinking and didn't notice the beer range. Unusual mirror in the conservatory! Will be back for more.

Slow service, staff looked miserable, beer was poor.

Token point for the fishtank.

Went on Christmas Eve for a meal which was spoilt by lot of 'Little Darlings' running around out of control , any comments from us were greated with glares from the parents ,its a shame because we had used it before and like the fact the whole pub was non-smoking ( roll on July ! )and the food and beer are not bad.

Managed to get back this week to have a go at the ongoing music quiz and had a thoroughly great evening there. Had a bite to eat, a few beers with friends and had a superb evenings entertainment too.
The music quiz is the best one iv`e ever taken part in and although we didnt win ( but there again no one did this week ) the pot stands at 400.00 and rolls over to next week so plenty of scope to have another crack at it. Its called the 10/10 challenge and hosted by Terry Peters. 1.00 per head per round with the object to get 10 right on any round. Loadsa fun over 3 rounds and quite testing. I`m back next week ( i need the money !!) lol. Give it a whirl ! you wont be disappointed.
big_funkyman - 26 Oct 2006 14:17
A great little pub with a very clean relaxed atmosphere. Seems to have a better than average food menu than most. Portion sizes are very generous too.
Recently started an excellent musically related quiz night on a wednesday with some very useful cash to be won as well ! A nicer venue to go to on a midweek night you would be hard pressed to find locally. Give it a go you wont be disappointed. Busy at weekends is a mark of its popularity.

I like this pub and go there a lot. Good food which is excellent value for money. Always a friendly atmosphere.

Good if slighly overpriced food. Beer range a little limited but they had on Caledonian Deuchars IPA on at my last visit. Garden and conservatory. Friendly service and locals. Large car park to the rear. Handy for the river.

Ownde by the same people as The Anglers retreat (Staines) this is a nice little local pub that offers a good food menu. Nice garden and conservatory. Good for sunny afternoon sessions. Normally quite quiet at night.
