17th century coaching inn but not very cosy or characterful. The Otter and Tribute ales were both slightly above average but nothing special last Wednesday. The highlight was the nut roast which was absolutely delicious.

The White Horse has just been sold by Enterprise Inns to two local businessmen who will be relaunching the pub in a fortnight as a Free House. Watch this space.

We visited this pub as its on the Somerset CAMRA pub trail. Its a run of the mill village pub; not too bad but nothing special either. OK if you live in the village but not worth the effort otherwise.

There's been a slight change in the real ale selection mentioned on previous reviews. Otter Bitter, Exmoor Ale and Sharps Doom Bar is now the selection. Natch's cider is served from a bottle. This seemed like a fairly pleasant village not far from Taunton. The interior has a fairly modern decoration. The main bar was filled with locals who were all congregated around the bar, making service difficult. Clearly not many outsiders venture in, judging by some of the strange looks we had. However, there is another separate room, also with the access to the bar and on the right hand side as you enter, if you're looking for a bit of solitude. An open fire was present in the main bar, along with a piano and various board games. A nice pub, but not the warmest of welcomes.

disappointed, food average, about as friendly as the churchyard oppsite, & atmoshere like the moon - typical Bradford mentality...blue rinse WI village...
Still the same three ales on the bar - very lazy - come on, sell something different and you might get some more punters through the door

I can't agree with Cordelia - all the character has not been ripped out. The bar billiards table has gone, the walls have had a lick of paint and some of the furniture has been replaced. It's still a good locals village pub which sells good food and drinks in the bar, restaurant or lovely beer garden.
Having said that, the choice of ales has not changed since re-opening day (Cotleigh Tawny, Otter Ale or Exmoor Ale). Come on, what about ringing the changes and offering a weekly guest ale?????
Reopened and not great - all the character has been ripped out. Early days so let hope things change for the better as this used to be a great friendly place.
Has reopened, for drinks at least, which is what a pub is for. Restaurant & food to follow. Ifurther reports to follow; hope they're possitive.
Re-opened
Its not tied to any brewery, its owned by Enterprise Inns. The lights were on when I drove past the other day, so it may re-open any day. Good news.
Can anyone tell me which brewery owns the White Horse? And has anyone taken it over yet?
Thanks

Rumour has it that this pub will re-open in a couple of weeks with new tenants - watch this space. I hope so; it will be an absolute shame if this place never opens its doors again to tthe paying drinker

I've just read in the local rag that this pub has now closed down A pity really as it was a nice well run pub and an ideal place to stop off for a pint or two while out walking. Some pubs deserve to go out of business; this is not one of them

My wife and I (Americans) still have fond memories of the Saturday night we spent at the White Horse Inn at Bradford on Tone while we were vacationing in southwestern England in 1976. I played skittles for the first time in my life and was fortunate to win a pint of ale. Glad to see that the inn is still alive and well.

Great little village pub with lovely garden, restaurant, skittles, and always 2 or 3 good ales on the go. Apparently Richard and Judy stop there for lunch on their way down to Cornwall, but don't let that put you off.
Unfortunately we don't live in this area. However, we have been to this pub on several occasions, having chanced upon it a couple of years ago. Service, food, beers and wine are always excellent. Very good value.
Great Pub serving good ale, bar snacks and a la carte menu. Busy locals bar with a rare bar billiards table
Watching the world go by? The rest of the world by passed Bradford on Tone decades ago! Nevertheless, this is a nice village pub.
Good beers and a sunny garden, slightly raised from the street, perfect for watching the world go by. Good food, skittle alley.
Very nice pub/restaurant in pleasant surroundings. Easy to find and good parking facilities. Fine cask ask ale and excellent lunch and dining. Four visits and have never been disappointed.
